Why are you taking off your cat? First of all, you won't pass smog, and you will get ticketed for illegal exhaust if a cop checks. The cat does restrict some power if you have upgraded your header and exhaust and left the cat, because the smaller cat would create a bottleneck. The solution to that is to buy a high flow cat. Also if you take off your cat you are gonna be killing the environment because the cat nullifies most of the harmful gases.

If your car is daily driven, leave the cat on there, or buy a high flow cat if you have a larger than stock exhaust/header. With a stock system, the power gains probably won't even be noticable.

gsr's are notorious for killing oil. (there was a thread about this about 2 or 3 days ago)
and yes if you run catless it will sound no better than a gorilla taking a dump on your front lawn....hi-flow cat is the way to go

yes a test pipe will be more raspy and the gains are negligible over a high flow cat
you could always swap to stock cat during smog, but unless you really cant afford it i would go high flow

high flow cat? kill environment? sound nasty? won't pass smog check? getting a ticket for illegal frault exhaust? oil killer? lacking backpressure? wtf are you guys talking about

you idiots are right but making no sense...

1. wat about people using empty cat?
2. wat about people drag racing at the track...
3. one more person using catless doesn't mean the enviromental is dying you dumb freak....deforestation is the cause, and weapon testing, see if im watering my grasses everyday, iam more than welcome to use catless...
4. smog, who care about smog...if you do? then f*ck you

tell me something i dont know, god dann it....you repeater...

answer to original thread yet you WILL FEEL the increase in catless power? about 2-4hp 2-4tq at mid-top end, and yes it will help increase gas mileage becuz the crank won't have use more power to force the air out, use less power to force something out = storage more power to increase power...hopefully this can help you understand more....

the choice is your</TD></TR></TABLE>

wow , I feel sorry for you. You are one dumb-*** ************ . Ignorant ***** like you make me sick. I bet you are an avid Bush supporter. I care about smog, and no, **** YOU. You are like "**** the environment, who needs it anyways." What a douchebag . How does watering your grass harm the environment, dipshit? Water is a renewable resource, granted it isnt contaminated from watering your grass, its not harmful to the environment. I'm sure most here will agree with me on this one. Sorry, dont think that i am some pansy tree-hugging hippy, I am not. I am just taking a stand against this simpleton's idiocracy. I am relatively certain that I am speaking for most of Honda-Tech when I say "**** YOU, *******!"

I work at an exhaust shop so i can tell you straight up what the skinny is. You can gut your cat to gain some flow but dont expect any huge gains. your best bet is a test pipe because the open chamber resulting from the gutted cat creates turbulance, therefore disrupting flow. A test pipe helps facilitate vacuum which is what you want in your exhaust. think about blowing into a soda can and then blowing through a large straw.

Well i took my cat off and i noticed a diffrence in power...more so than when i put on my DC header. I live in florida and we dont have smog test so **** it. And about the environtment if 1000 ppl take off their cat the effect on environment will not show up till we are all long and gone. Take your cat off, hollow it out, do what ever you want man but yes you will feel a diffrence.

Please, before you come here and question my educataion and intelligence, learn how to properly speak English. It is apparent that you either learned English as a second language, or you are just very dumb and barely literate . so don't preach to me about knowledge or education. All of your posts consist of a bunch of half-assed, incoherent rambling that remind me of a cenile old hack . Again, please learn basic English grammar, and then come back and challenge my itelligence.

well, smart guy, i was a chem major so now we can balance this little argument.

if he lives near a big city, he will be contributing to an already serious smog problem. ever hear of a smog emergency? it's when the air is so filthy it's bad to breathe.

if you gut your cat, your car will stink, and will sound like garbage. besides, some of us LIKE to pass smog so we can drive our cars.

get a high flow cat, instead of being a half-asser. you don't want your car to be half-assed, do you? do it right so you can be proud of your work. trust me, it's a good feeling.

why even bother poluting the environment (more so) for a small gain (yes 2-4, at best is a small gain).....don't worry, you will understand when you turn 17...lol.....

like you're perfect..dude ur English sux too...you got ton of fragments right there....Yes english as second language is my downfall (is this the only thing you can make fun out of me...) Never see an asian guy passing his english class with an A while other whites people or american people got c, d or b, well they got A too...so wat is your point, iam sux but i got A's...NO ONE IS GOOD IN ENLIGHS, cuz enlighs is a suxass language..

yes im good at my basic grammar...are you...such as parts of speech....how many form of tenses...

and look man it was ur mistake to criticize me about watering grass causing polution....i didn't say watering my grass causing polution...i said "like watering my grass everyday help decrease polution level so im more than welcome to use catless." that was my point earlier...

yes i know what negligible means...

if you check out the dyno you will see there is NO difference between a 2.5" test pipe and a 2.5" high flow cat..id say the gains are pretty negligible
