does anyone know the redline of the jdm prelude type s engine?
pretty much what the title said. I think they made
them around 97-01. I just want to know if
they have a higher redline than the 93+ prelude
vtec engines. Thanks for any help.

No way in hell an h22 redlines at 8300.

Peak hp is @7200 so I don't think redline is at 8000 either.

in which case the indicated redline on the tach will be at 7700.
I have read previously that Honda consistantly marks the redline on the tach 500 RPM above peak HP.

that can't be right...
S2000: 240hp @ 8,300rpm - redline is higher than 8,800rpm
94-01GS-R: 170hp @ 7,600rpm - redline is at 8,000rpm
redline and peak power is related to gearing, not where the engine is making peak hp. it'd be kind of neat if it did, but that's just not how the world works.
to answer the original question, i dont know, but i would assume it's the same as all other H22's (7,400rpm) as there isn't anything significantly different about the engine to warrant much more speed.

yeah, I had an idea it was probably the same
as a regular prelude vtec h22a. But I thought
there was that slight chance it might be a little
higher since horsepower is higher, and there
is a little more torque. thanks guys.

Hate to burst the joy bubble but Honda's new CBR600RR *only* goes to 15,500rpm. The same as what Yamaha did 5 years ago with the intoduction of the R6.

so a little off topic here but I was just curious to know what the VTEC engagement point is for the type S
