Help me diagnose this problem 93 Accord CB3
1993 Honda Accord CB3. F20A8 SOHC Non-vtec. Manual gear
SO! i just did the timing belt, waterpump, adjuster pulley? (the bearing the belt gets tight from). The car rode great the first week but after that a noise has appeared!
The noise sounds metallic clanging. like if youre dragging a steel pipe against asphalt.
It only comes when the engine is hot and i give it some gas. the moment i let go of the gas it stops. it starts at about 1500 rpms and gets louder and louder the more i go up in rpms.
Tomorrow i will try to switch the new adjuster pulley out with the old one that was on before and adjust the valves (not that i think its that its just another thing to rule out right?).
I did timing belt cause of a faulty water pump gasket.
I deleted the balancer belt temporarily cause i thought it was that. it was not
The sound is definitely coming from the timing side of the engine bay (left side)
Any help would be appreciated as this is my daily and i dont want the piston and valve to become married incase one of the bearings seize up LOL

Several things to check here:
Sounds like a bearing noise to me.....Alt, Compressor, PS, or T-belt tensioner. Use the long screwdriver to the ear trick.
If you removed the PS discharge hose for the T-belt job, the O-ring may not seal right after and cause noise. This is not common in my experience, but it does happen. I would also unplug the connector to the Alt field coil. Alternators can make a non bearing noise and still charge if the diode bride has lost 1 of its 3 diodes, but it will make a lot of noise nevertheless. See if the noise changes with the lights on.
Try to find the noise before you guess at a repair. Good Luck.

When you tightened the timing belt down, did you allow the springs to adjust the belt tension or did you 'help' it by pushing on the adjuster with your finger?
Springs apply the correct amount of tension, any more the idler pulley will make noise.

I put the timing belt on then the spring tensioner. it adjusted fine and had good tension. It only rattles under load. i got a new harmonic balancer on the way since i noticed it was rubbing on the lower cover. Non-original tho because i couldnt get any originals in europe. well i could but the wait would be far too long since its my daily
I also tried using the old idler pulley, nothing wrong with the old one it was just trouble shooting but the noise was still there. I'm quite certain its not the timing belt. ive changed all pulleys, checked bearings and listened with a screw driver on the pulley tension nut. the noise is still there no matter what i change out concerning the timing belt ect. only the harmonic balancer is the only thing i havent changed. noticed the generator belt was wobling a bit up and down so the rubber may be slipping or loose. I'll come back once i get the new HB on

So i got this video from right when i noticed the noise sorry for black screen but its the only video of the rattling noise in effect. this was while driving 40-50km/h in 3rd gear so low rpms.
I’ve replaced the harmonic balancer now and still no luck. this is really annoying as i dont want to take it to a shop and have it be expensive.
i feel like i checked everything and nothing good has come out of it so im really lost atm

Sorry not gonna DL that
Just a thought, after tightening all the belts, did you remember to remove the temporary bolt used to hold the tensioneer pulley out of the way when installing the bolt?
