obd2b to obd2a questions
hello so i just swapped the same engine into my car
my car is a 98 civic lx 4 dr d16y7 i think obd2a
i swapped a d16y7 auto into it with the ecu and harness from a 2000 civic hatch
car wont start and its because of the obd difference
now should i put my engine harness back in and keep the 2000 ecu? or should i get a jumper
kinda confused but the engine, ecu. and engine harness are all from the 2000 civic and mine is a 1998. what do i do?

The variable here is HOW was the original auto-to-manual conversion done in your '98 Civic LX Sedan ? Assuming you can reverse this and return the chassis back to stock essentially, then you can simply use a '96-98 Civic LX Auto engine harness, use the Y7 distributor from the '98 engine, and everything else should plug up. You will also need a '96-98 Civic LX (P2E) Auto ECU... the last three digits should be A5X where the "X" is a number between 1 and 9.
The 2000 engine harness and ECU do NOT plug in and integrate with the chassis and this is why your engine isn't running and the check engine light stays on.
