Default D16y7 swap to D15b Questions

read thru all treads so will make quick...

Bought a suppose to be 97 D15b JDM motor like all them out there and seems to be good. Fist doing swap of wire notices no crank sensor pulled pulley and looks like has mount points on oil pump so should be good there. But while pulling crank pulley noticed have to big chunks broke off pulley so that will not be balanced for sure. So question can I use the pulley from my D16Y7 crank pulley and work or is 1.5 different than the 1.6 motor?

Line up the old y7 to the d15b crank pulley. Do the marks line up?

Pretry sure you can use d15 pulley on y7, but the timing marks won't line up. So if you ever go to change timing belt don't go by tdc marks on the pulley. Ran into that bc I have a y7 with a y8 pulley on it, and its not the same tdc marks. In that case you would just find tdc by pulling 1st plug and sticking something down in there while manually rotaging the motor counter clockwise. But like other guy said, line the 2 pullies up and see. I'm pretty sure all d series crank pulleys are the same aside from tdc marks.

If the timing marks don't line up then its pointless to use it. Which is why I said check to make sure that they do.

My y8 pulley works just fine on my y7. Can still put it in time if you really know what you're doing. I did and I'm just a yokle from NC.

And the timing marks between a y7 and y8 are totally different. If you want to set ignition timing find tdc and make your own mark on the pulley.

Sorry was on other projects... But seems like ******* marks are same, but this is what really worried about the weight.. 1.5 is lighter than 1.6 but least .5 lb or so .. so that will throw out 1.5 motor out big time right>? I only got few more days to get money back on this 1.5 JDM and rebuild or something else .. any help asap please.

Admins please post my post with pics I need answer to weight question, if will not work or not, I got to take motor back in today if I want to get my money back...

edit: looks like will not post if pics.. so will use text to explain...

Timing marks seem to line up , but the two are half pound different in weight... Putting .5 pound heaver crank pulley on D15B won't that cause problems with balance?

edit 2 will try this for pics:

So looking on ebay for real one there are many light weight ones that fit both D15 and D16 so guess only diff will add slower revers with heaver one. And for think said "Key" Woodruff Key is same so will install should be good right.

Your images have proven that, your next question was a light weight pulley be sufficient. If you haven't read up on why some concerns on these light weight cranks than you obviously need to.

Again, crank pulley differences/same already confirmed with pictures. We're passed that and are we are on this in the bold. If you're confused about what you type maybe you shouldn't.
