Looks like it might be the heel plate for a driver's foot and the piece with the BH881 is the lever arm for the pedal. And I can be completely wrong too.

1 thing to consider with the Honda PU this year is they are trying to master 2 things that gave the other PU manufactures issues. Merc had problems with the split turbo early in their PU development and Renault had issues with the prechamber lean burn ignition. Honda did have a mini version of split turbo last year so that may not be as much of an issue for them.

That is my thinking too. I was wondering if you might have any idea what team it could belong too. Thought maybe in your travels you'd have stumbled across the bh information which may have seemed extraneous at the time.

Clearly I'm grasping for positive things to say here.

I think they will see noticeable gains pretty quickly. They wont be fighting for podiums. But better than they are now. In testing their longest stint was 11 laps... Then 2 weeks later they would have both finished 58 laps in race conditions (2 laps down) if it wasn't for a suspension failure. There was something said about the cars running in fuel saving mode during the race too. So as far as I know, nobody has actually seen what they are capable of when running at their full potential.

I've seen people posting that Merc let Ferrari win for the good of F1 and the Toto smash was all acting. I can't believe people are that delusional. Then again lots of tinfoil hats out there.

considering how poorly they reacted to HAM trying to back ROS into the rest of the field at abadaba it's clear that's complete poppycock. Merc wants a 1,2 finish at every race and would never try for anything else.

Agree 100%. I think Ferrari flat out beat Merc. Yeah Merc pitted HAM early but Ferrari's pace caused Merc to pit and JA seems to think Seb wood have won even if Merc had waited to pit.

Re: The Official Formula 1 2017 Season Thread
JA is trying like heck to get more views so he takes a more controversial position on most topics. But yeah, HAM roasted his tyres and pitted early because of Ferrari's pace. It also seems like like the car / tyres have a thermal sensitivity and Sunday's warmth hurt Merc. This should be a topic discussed more in the next races. Merc was especially sensitive to this for several seasons before 2014. They first won a race (ROS) in China 2012 on a relatively cold track.
I would have liked to see HAM stay out and struggle and see if Seb could have passed. I think with the characteristics of the new wider rear tyres the drivers can't save it as easily when they start to slide. There was a good discussion on slip angle and contact patch area on another forum. I really think HAM pitted because he was worried he would bin it if he tried to race Seb.

AUDI???
If Audi joins and Merc stays in the sport, it's only a matter of time before BMW will come back.
Volkswagen will be sending an Audi representative to an upcoming meeting hosted by the FIA to debate the future of the sport's engine regulations.
That is the claim of the German-language Spox.com, which says the meeting will take place in Paris on Friday to discuss what the next engine formula might look like beyond 2021.
