I agree. Just install a nice MFactory or Quaife Helical LSD into your current GS-R Transmission. There is no advantage in getting the ITR transmission as that LSD is more reactive, meaning that it counters torque-steer it experiences, as opposed to just locking 100% out of the gate with the MFactory or Quaife Helical LSD.
Re: BackroadCR-V's High Mileage B18C1 + Boost Progress Build Thread
^Backing up what both Shodan and Lightning are saying above. Mfactory is hard to beat for the price. I'd recommend sticking with a 1 way LSD, not a 1.5 or much less a 2 way.
Prioritize getting the LSD installed over everything else, your setup definitely needs it. BBG + LSD will make a huge impact on your traction woes.
Re: BackroadCR-V's High Mileage B18C1 + Boost Progress Build Thread
Yeah I need to make traction-mods my focus for now.
i was under the impression the ITR lsd was same as all the other gear-type like mfactory and quafe.
a local guy is selling a ITR trans with brand new 3-4 sliders and sychrows for $1100. Seems like a decent deal considering my gsr trans need a $700+ lsd, plus trans shop install co$t. If I bought the ITR trans i could sell my gsr trans and get some money back...... BUT Again... I'm kinda skeptical about the short gear ratios maybe too short with iTR trans (for a turbo car that has power to pull longer gears). although the short itr 5th gear doesn't bother me since it's not a daily or long cruise car. I often wish the gsr 4-5 gear ratio was closer because when I'm doing hwy pulls against v8's I can pull them in 3rd & 4th but when I shift into 5th they begin to pull back on me.

My vote is to keep the gsr trans and put an lsd in it. If you're into roll racing consider putting an itr 5th gear in your gsr trans while it's apart. Other then that bbg, R888s, and traction bar.

^This. Once again, don't waste your time with the OEM LSD. They're similar in function and design, but barely comparable in execution to aftermarket helical slips.
Also, if you don't feel comfortable doing so then don't hesitate to take it to a shop, but there are a lot of fairly in depth videos on YouTube on taking apart and re-assembling a B series gearset. It's really straightforward and honestly not difficult at all as long as you pay attention to the order you do things in.

Well everybody... as much fun as I've had with this car (and it really has been great)... I listed it For Sale today. As soon as I started to get boost back into my life, the Horse Power bug grew and grew. Now I want big power and I need AWD back in my life. That's just the simple truth. Thank you everyone who has contributed to this build. The Honda motors have seriously amazed me. Why can't they all flow this good!

Glad you had fun with it. I'm sure that (especially if you listed it For Sale in the Honda-Tech Forums) you'll get a great buyer for the car and you can reference this thread as a log to what you've done to the system. Let us know what you've decided for its replacement, and glad you had a good experience. You are an exception to the rule of Honda retrofit turbocharging enthusiasts!! Please spread the love & knowledge you've gained here to others, so that our continued bad reputation for "Rice" goes away that much faster!

Damn! This was one of my favorite build threads. What are your plans for your new awd build? Good luck man.
Re: BackroadCR-V's High Mileage B18C1 + Boost Progress Build Thread
Somehow I feel as if I'll always be apart of the Honda Family now lol. Wish I could keep you guys around as I do my next build but nobody wants to see a Mitsubishi build around here haha.
yup I need that AWD back in my life guys. These v8 guys with 500-600-700hp are getting on my nerves and the only game we have in this state is the digg race Drag game. So I'm gonna build something for them to play with. For years been interested in the idea of a DSM with auto trans. Im gonna do that. A big turbo GSX with AWD and automatic trans will give these muscle car boys something play with 👍🏼

Well, as one that was a DSM owner for a number of years, I'll say that you'll have the tool kit out fixing **** 10 times much as you would have with your Honda. IMHO, you're going backwards in direction for unique builds against your V8 enemies, than building on top of what you had.
You don't see a lot of street/strip DSM's for a reason. (Evolutions are not DSMs)

I'd just really rather not deal with all that custom stuff. Plus I know DSM's well. It's going to be a AWD automatic GSX or Talon.
you guys will just have to trust that I can build a nice DSM
Its not the trust factor we ever worry about. It's that when it comes to that level that you're looking for, it takes twice as much to get it as reliable as that honda you have now. I don't care what drivetrain you use, even the big dogs in the DSM world know when to quit, and actual envy the Honda crowd because we have such robust, high flowing base to start with.
Re: BackroadCR-V's High Mileage B18C1 + Boost Progress Build Thread
Ah heck I'm not trying to break records. I'm not trying to compete on Rau and Shepards level. Those guys were at the top of the top at one time though. When your up there you've done so much you're ready for change. Even Lucas English has been branching out and I knew him when was working on shut box DSM's outta his parents garage lol (i use to live in Seattle)
Id like to do 600-700hp again. It's not that difficult. Maybe 800 tops. Out of a 2700lb AWD car that's gonna be plenty to upset local street machines in my area. I'm not looking to be king of the world (or even local king) I'm smart enough to know not to even try that. Just want to me a lot more competitive outta the hole

This is actually a pretty great idea. Could easily bolt on a turbo kit, tune it, and have 500->600whp otherwise stock. Rear diff will need to be upgraded if you're launching it though, but there are a few options available for that.
