I was servicing the AC system and replaced the shrader valves inside both ports of the AC. But while installing the high port shrader valve; I tightened it too tight with the tool and broke the little metal pieces the tool uses to hold/grip onto the valve. So it seems pretty stuck in there; I do not really wish to deal with trying to remove it, because I've heard it is either really difficult or involves replacing the whole pipe/tube.

The system was vacuumed and no leaks detected and holds pressure.

Would it be okay to just leave it as is; and recharge the system?

 

So you replaced valves and pulled a vacuum even though you knew there were broken pieces of metal in the system?

 

I guess you might as well since you've already pulled vacuum on it... Kinda past the point of no return now I think.

 

I think he means the little metal riser on the top-side of the valve core. you know, where the slot in the shrader valve tool fits onto... in which case, there shouldn't be any metal in the A/C system, but the next time that valve core needs to come out, he is boned.

Yes this is right; it has no effect on sealing the system and no metal pieces went into the system.

I went ahead and charged the system and it seems to be holding pressure as well. I figure if the port ever does leak then I can consider replacing the whole pipe or adding one of these couplers as a different source of sealing?

 

I never used that crap to pull a vacuum or add refridgerant. It ***** up your valves.
