My 2006 CRV hood latch cable failed. After removing the lower splash shield, I was able use a wood dowel with a screw in the side (making an L) reach up to the latch and pop the hood open. You want to be going up slightly from the drivers side then get the screw behind the latch body to trip the arm.



I then attached coated wire to the cable, pulled it thru to the drivers compartment, then attached the wire to the new cable and pulled it back thru.
