Serious builds deserve serious hardware, and those are Koni 2822 four way adjustable coilovers going on the car.
Serious hardware.

We also received a box full of bushings for the car from Energy suspension
Suspension work continues!

Front frame very close to done, missing shock mounts and a few other small bits, but the layout is pretty much there -

Rear suspension started sprouting control arms today!

Rear arms fabricated -

Once we're done with shock mounting tabs the rear suspension is essentially done.
We got our model to work so linear the shock literally compresses almost exactly the same distance with every inch of suspension travel.
Gotta love that

The rear suspension on our mid-engine madness project N1000RR is now finalized geometry-wise.
Still need to add a few tabs and mounting brackets for the sway bar, but it's getting oh so close now to roller-day

Is there anyone reading this?
Make a sound

With the rear suspension mostly in place it was time to tackle the front.
Made the first LCA and on to mocking up the inboard shocks and verify the measurements.
Ignore the length of the pushrod, it's a good few inches too long -

There are only so many times one can offer empty compliments before crossing the line into ****-slobbing territory.

Consider it... silent admiration.

Compliments are nice, but not what I'm after.
Hoping for some discussion... in some regards this project being so unusual allows us to show more than we normally do on race cars.
Readers are encouraged to discuss, ask questions, anything in mind, I'm happy to share.

I'm admiring the fabrication, my day job is sheet metal fabrication, would love to be doing something like you are for a living instead.

Have you seen the VFR800 swapped N600? pretty neat, not the same level of work you guys are putting in though.

Yeah, the one that CCrunner built is cool.
His build log on LocostUSA is great and has all bunch of good frankensteining examples - LocostUSA.com ? View topic - ccrunner's N600 VFR800 repower
Totally different state of mind for the two builds.
CCR went after a fun street / show / toy car with all kinds of touches to keep the original feel but still custom, you can go for a couple hours drive in that car.

We went after a more focused go fast machine that is meant to put a stupid smile on your face when on track.
You can drive it to the nearby Supercar Sunday meet and some local canyon runs, but otherwise it's a track car with a license plate.

No wrong answers here, it's all fun

We got both FLCAs on the car today and I couldn't help myself sticking tires on the front end to get a visual.. along with the confirmation that this thing is guaranteed to look insane

13" wheels eh? It definitely doesn't seem that small until you start thinking about it...

13's look huge on this car, probably because it came with 10's!

As we draw closer to roller day, Frank is becoming more and more anxious.. he's trying to stay out of the way for the most, but sometimes he'll do things like playing weld inspector

Is that tubing running through the firewall and tying into the cage?

Default Happy roller day!

We're finishing 2016 with a bang - the N1000RR has hit ground for the first time!
It took a few months of gathering parts and a few more to design everything.
Had to figure out many challenges along the way, but it is happening and we have arrived at this huge milestone in the life of such project.

What a great way to end 2016 with a bang!
Looking forward to drive this baby in 2017

N1000RR, now available with 100% more roll-ability!

Frank was mighty impressed

Still light enough for this crowd pleaser*

* I am ready for my advil

Loving those stitch welds on the lower door area.

Also that front suspension design looks very unique. It will be interesting to see how it will look with the 'hood popped'

The stitch welds on the A pillar gussets, are they laid out inline with the dimples for strength or aesthetics or?

Yeah, we're going to reconnect the nose section as soon as we have the fuel tank and radiator in there.
It'll be interesting for sure

Ok, I'll bite. What ratio are you using on the rockers? What spring rates are you going to start with in relation to the rocker set up? How will this car (work of art in fab) potentially corner and will there be any bias to one side or the other or will you try to achieve 50/50/50/50 with an average size driver in place? BTW, you guys get all the fun jobs, I am jealous.
Regards
Dave

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the kind words, I've been out of town for the holidays and just saw your post
We're using a 5:3 ratio on the rockers, spring rates are 200 Fr / 275 Rr as a starting point, and we're going to build pickup points for front and rear sway bars, though it is likely that we will only be running a front bar at the beginning.
I'm expecting to do a fair amount of testing and tuning at the beginning with the owner of the car to get it to work best for him, he is a high-intermediate level driver that had been on track many times before but with a completely different platform (high power FF) so it'll take some getting used to.

It's hard to predict the exact weight bias, but I am hoping to end up in the neighborhood of 45/55 rear bias, though we might end up closer to 40/60 which is still A-okay in my book.
We have a few component that we're going to play with in terms locating the weight in order to achieve the Fr / Rr weight dist and 50/50 side to side w/ driver.
