What Brand and type is everybody running? leaded or unleaded? I have 12.1 comp in my b-series. Just trying to get a general idea or suggestion on what type to run. Will be getting it tuned for it.

Why not just run 93 Octane? You have that available there, correct?

no need for Race Fuel

Sunaco in McDonough has higher octane gas. I would advise your tuner first doe.

won't make a difference unless your setup requires it.

Ask your tuner what he recommends. I'd start with 93 and go from there.

if you have access to 100LL thats a relatively less expensive option compared to full race gas, i just got some the other day and it was $3.61 a gallon. or e85.

Big HP gains don't happen to stock to moderate modded N/A Honda engines on E85... they only get the negatives and hassle involved in using it. You have to run boost or uber high compression to attain significant gains.

At the circuit or drag strip?.

I'm at 12.5:1 on my other EM1, and have only run 93 octane . HPDE days VP C110

Zeal compression calculator said I'm at 12:1 and I run 93 no problem. My tuner said it actually took timing like a stock GSR, I don't know if that's a good thing...? Regardless, my B18 LSVTEC made 199whp/135tq on a dynojet, tuned fairly conservatively.

Like everyone said run 93 if available. No reason the waste money on race gas when there is no real benefit. That being said, if you're looking to make a tad bit more power out of the fuel, an oxygenated fuel will have some benefits, but unfortunately not much. VP c45 is good. We picked up about 10hp on our B series, but we also had big cams and 14:1 compression. On our J32 project we picked up 12hp over 91 pump. That was with stock compression and cams. Big downside, its expensive.

I see what you're saying now. Really, even circuit racing I only add a bit of Race fuel mixture in my 93 octane. It's not for power, like you said, just for better knock resistance for extended periods of "spirited driving".

If I don't have any VP110 for that event, I have another map for this mixture.

RACE GAS | Racing Fuel Concentrate

I mix this with my 93 octane. From what I remember, Two Ounces of Race Gas will raise the octane of one gallon of gasoline 4 full octane numbers. So, about 22oz, ( about 65% of a liter bottle of soda) per tank to go from 93octane to about 100octane. The higher the concentration, the higher the octane.

It worked pretty well for me. Knock sensor barely registered anything. Otherwise, stick with 93

I run E85 and my car sits alot as well. They make a fuel additive for it that lubes the fuel system and also help repel water. If its THAT big of a deal run it out and pickle it with regular pump gas while it sits. But I agree with others, 93 pump should do well on this setup

I tuned my 13:1-ish B20vtec on VP110, while it ran great, I didn't really put that fuel to work.

After a conversation with my tuner, we decided that a 50/50 mix of VP101 and 91 Octane would suit my setup perfectly.

I used FTW's "BLACK" fuel in my setup.

100LL is good but putting it in a car tuned for 93 octane typically results in running half a point richer on a wideband. Not exactly a good thing for power. My suggestion is to just run 93 octane, and when you do a track day or whatever run it no more than 1/4 of 100LL as a buffer as it results in 95 almost 96 octane. True race fuel is miles ahead of 100LL, but much more expensive.

If your going to use this specifically for the track then look at VP fuels. there is a large variations that could work for you. M1 would probably be best.

If you're planning to daily this still use M1 and just drain it out after a race and put fresh gas in it. That way when you choose to drive it around no worries on corrosion in the injectors
