Hey guys, I recently purchased this hatchback and the old battery died. My brother removed some ground wires and I believe that he said he got a spark on the fuel rail when it ran for a little bit. I checked all my grounds and they look good. I put a new battery in and the car will not start. I can hear my starter click and my fuel pump prime, fuel is getting from my pump to filter and from the filter to fuel rail, my injectors are ejecting fluid straight. I've replaced all my throttle body sensors and my fuel rail and injectors with OEM. New NGK V-power spark plugs and all new relays all around. Any help would be appreciated. I miss driving my car I'm not the most mechanically inclined so good description would be appreciated.
What ground wires did he remove?! If they were any stock grounding points, it could be the cause.
Improper grounding can definitely cause this. The starter is just clicking and not turning OVER? Make sure the starter has a good connection to the battery. I'd check the starter fuse with the 3 steps below and you'll know if power is getting to the fuse and through it, if not, fix, if so, check for voltage at the starter.
I ended up finding the issue, it was a bad regulator. The one that's on my fuel rail to be exact. Started right up after switching it out to another one I had laying around. I appreciate the help
Ditto both the above ^^^^ grounds that "look good" may not be, the best way to check them is to redo them, disconnect/clean/reconnect making sure you clean both the terminal and the contact area and that terminal is tight. 94
