Got spark and fuel: non starting B18Cr saga continues
Ok so I had a post a few weeks ago where my newly swapped B18Cr (in a 96 Manual DX Hatch) would not start, turned out to be a bad coil. Well got it running very poorly, and was able to start it a few times, and let it run for a bit, took it to the exhaust shop down the street I went down there to start it up, and try to figure out why it was running rough it would not start it again (tried it before the shop even touched it, so it wasn't them). Here is what I have tried to do and what the results where. The engine cranks over, and there is spark and fuel going into the cylinders, ever now and then it acts like it wants to start but doesn't fire up.
Changed the fuel filter - Im getting fuel there and to the cylinders (fuel pressure present at filter, plugs wet after trying to start)
Swapped ECU to P72 - Have it so figured may as well try it
Checked for continuity on all grounds - these appear to be ok, reading 54 Ohms between battery and chassis grounds all around (even on the small ground strap from battery to chassis)
Changed plugs, wires and distributor - Went back to old plugs, and wires, and a new dizzy with various combinations of each
Checked all sensor connections to make sure they where secure
Swapped out IACV - Old one made a funny whining noise
Checked engine timing - Camshaft pulleys line up when engine is at TDC so I dont think it slipped a tooth or anything
Performed cylinder leak down test - minimal leakage, in the green on my test gauge
Checked for spark with spark checker - Getting hot spark
Wont fire or start with starting fluid either
None of this has helped, I don't know what else to try. I have contacted my vendor again and they suggested some of the above steps but nothing has worked. I am about to just ask for a refund and send this damn thing back :-( Any ideas from the great minds of HT?
Only CEL is for IAT sensor, which I replaced and it still shows up, also started with this CEL previously. Underhood fuses are all good, maybe one of the under dash ones I should look at?
BTW: Im running a 96 EX 5-Speed harness, there is four plugs that go nowhere, one of them is secondary O2, the other three are for who knows what (I have nothing left to plug in), but it ran without them before

Re: Got spark and fuel: non starting B18Cr saga continues
Holy mix ups batman
It sounds like u got a spark issue for sure because even with fuel present u have no combustion
Where to start I couldn't tell 7 without seeing the mess.
Good luck

The extra connectors are covered in heat shrink now, Ill try and find out the wire colors though. Not sure what timing is set at, as after I replaced the dizzy it still wont start, I put it as close to where it was as I could remember though.

What wire colors are connected to the IAT sensor? check mechanical timing, spark color and ensure that plugs are in the proper sequence.

Here are the pictures of all the connectors that goto the intake manifold and the extra connectors. Im leaving them on dropbox so they can be viewed at full resolution.

The extra black/yellow red/yellow might be the EGR sensor connector. I can't really tell what the others are. Where are you getting spark? At the plugs? What color is the spark? This is real simple but could be over looked when thinking the problem is something bigger, are your plugs in the correct ordered sequence?

Please mark this as solved.
Update: Thanks to 09chaplak for pointing this out, it was a mix up on the plug wires, apparently the drawing I was using was incorrect and I had the wires hooked up incorrectly, it started up and ran today, will check tomorrow to make sure it is still good, going to have to change the oil out since it flooded a couple times.
