Opinions on DIY wheel spraying
I don't want it to look tacky. I guess the other option is sell my wheels and buy a new set.
Currently have black slipstreams on my silver VT and thinking of spraying them silver. DIY job. It would just be the faces of the wheels, so the inner part would still be black.
What are your thoughts?
Current:

Photoshop: A slightly brighter silver than this but it gives an idea.

No tech.
If you want to paint them then paint them. You even included a photoshopped picture for yourself and you still need opinions? You can't decide that you like them or not based on that picture?

I think it will look great painted silver, Just take your time masking off everything that you dont want painted silver. The prep time takes longer than the painting process.
Def not a tech question and its in the wrong section but no need to flame the guy just redirect him and he'll know next time..Remember we all share the same love of cars...

Painting rims can look very nice if done correctly. Just take the time to do it. I think black rims on a silver car looks good, but so does colormatched stuff... up to you.
As for the flaming 24ten, You do come across a little jerkish at times. They are simple questions, but the way they are asked is the "flaming" Im sure... Thats the problem with text. No emotion.

Point taken and I can appreciate anyone who is willing to tell me that.
For the record I too have painted rims. As mentioned prep is the key. A pointer to add is if you want them to be shiny and stay that way use multiple light coats of clear. Do as many as you feel it takes to get complete coverage keeping in mind you're doing light/mist coats. Then the last two coats do "wet" but not so much that it runs. You'll appreciate the smooth shiny surface when it comes to clean them. Same can apply for semi gloss finishes but I don't know about flat (if that's your taste).
As for the color, it's still up to you. Opinions are like ___holes, everyone has one. /jerkish rant

Silver looks like every other car these days.
Rims would look better if you painted the entire car black to match.
Or maybe burnt orange with polished lips.
If you are feeling like a baller - chrome or gold paint.
Those are my opinions and thoughts.

Maybe look into "plastidip" when you have a chance. I believe people have done this with rims. If you don't like it you can peel it off.
I say just do it. Worse case you have to flat black them all to match.
Here is a tahoe of mine i did a spray job (on truck) did not have big jack to take off wheels at that time.
Before

After: masking off/scuffing chrome/4 coats of sandable primer w/800grit sanding

I would definitely do silver. But I'd probably have them done professionally. If you're not a painter, the work may show it. I would not leave any black on the wheel, either. That will give it a cheap look like you're fearing.
I did my wheels on my 00 frontier black and they look pretty good. Could have spent more time on them and done clear coat but I didn't want it glossy. I was planning on getting new wheels anyways so it was just something temporary. I used duplicolor wheel paint. Nice photoshop skills btw
Whenever I see purely black wheels, I kind of cringe because the amount of blackness from the tire really kills the shape/curves/spokes of any black wheels. Like, aesthetic wise black wheels don't stand out. Unless there are a set of colored lugs, wheel decals, a bright caliper and/or really nice rotor behind the black wheel then yes it may look great. Again my opinion, just a kids thoughts. For example this:

but with silver, or white it can stand out on stock brakes, like this:

Of course, you're running Rotas, and throwing on decals would be a huge no-no to most genuine-JDM-OEM-YO tight-asses out there.
Assuming that picture is exactly of your CRX, it'd look amazing paint-matched to your car. You have a nice amount of black and silver, with those black moldings, the black lower side of the car and the rest of the body silver, it balances out with a silver wheel and the tires blackness. If you paint those slipstreams to the same color as the car, it'd be a perfect blend in my honest opinion. DO IT! But make sure it's done right! I'd grab a set of steelies or other wheels and run them for a week while I carefully paint the slipstreams. Most of the quality is in the prep-work. There are many DIY tuts out on the internet for some nice quality wheel-painting,
And here's a pic of sort-of paint matching slipstreams on a CRX.

Thanks for all the replies.
CO671, you make a good point about having something to break up the blackness that comes with running black wheels.

This is the paint I'm thinking of using http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-X-500-ML...item4838638033
With this primer http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-X-500-ML...item3a538d4bdc
Will I need a laquer?

I'm not too sure about painting man, I just admire and do minor mechanics. Body-work is my weak-spot. Google the DIY Wheel Painting, well here i'll just throw some links just from Honda-tech
