UPDATE
I took the head to a local machine shop to install the new style LMAs, new valve seals and freshen up the head before i install it on the block. i ordered the LMAs and valve seals and when they came in a few days later i went to the shop to drop them off. when i go there and dropped them off, Joe one of the workers there told me that the valve guides were shot. he showed me how much the valves were flopping around while they were in the valve guides and let me see and feel for myself. so i asked how much was it going to cost to put in new bronze valve guides. when he totaled up the parts and labor for them it came out to over $200!! so i told him to do it cause im not going to install a head that was going to cause me problems.

so i contacted 12secdc2 and told him the problem. he asked for the shops info and the person who told me. i pm'd him twice with the info.

i gave him that info and havent heard from him since. i also found out before i found out the valve guide problem that UPS denied the claim because the package was not their or something like that is what 12secdc2 told me and he said that he would pay me that $100. and i am also still missing the Blox intake manifold that was suppose to come with the head aswell.

I dont want to start any more drama between us. i just want to get this situation settled




heres the story:
I recently purchased a b16 head from 12secdc2. paid for the item on feb. 25, 2009. and have been in contact ever since. the b16 head was listed for sale saying that the work was done by portflow before they started stamping the heads. listed waht was done by portflow when they got the head, and listed saying it had portflow's dual valve springs, titanium retainers, and black nitrate valves. it also will come with gsr cams and blox intake manifold.

i came in contact with him when that fs post was made. asked him to send me pictures and find out the year and the mileage on the head after it was built. he said that he would have the pictures to me by thursday. while i was waiting for the pictures i would always go back into that thread and read what was all included. i was making SURE it was what i wanted. after i received the pictures i decided that i was going to purchase the head from him. paid him on wednesday feb 25, 2009. he told me that he will have the head out that friday feb. 27. friday rolls around and i pm'd him asking about the shipment info. he says that he was waiting for the payment to clear into his bank account and will have it out on monday march 2. got me a little irritated because he said it was going to be sent out on friday but now i have to wait until the payment clears into his bank account. so ok. ill wait till monday. monday rolls around and he says that he got the head sent out and will get me the tracking number. so i wait. next day i get a tracking number. checked it out and it says that item was shipped on march 3rd tuesday. hmm look like he lied again to me.

item got here on friday, march 6. found the package at my door when i got home from work that night. looked at teh package outside and wow..look at the damage on the box!

worried me when i saw the package like that so i quickly brought the package inside and opened it to inspect it.
here is what i found:

looked at it for a bit and remembered that the head wasnt suppose to come with a vtec solenoid. kinda odd

stud that holds down part of the exhaust cam cap and part of the valve cover:

thought to myself" hm. maybe i can just twist the nut off. doesnt look too bad. oh..its stuck. hm..looks like it was dropped on this side too.

oh yea..where is the blox intake manifold?

so after i inspected the item i took pictures of the damaged items and contacted 12secdc2 and linked him the pictures. he told me to file a ups claim. yea. my past expierence with ups's claim cost me 700 and a tranny that i dont have. so i dont think im going to lose out on 900 and a head the second time.
this is what he sent me via pm
"ok bout the manifold I will ship it I totally forgot bout it. and as far as the insurance there is the basic 100 dollar coverage which should cover the solenoid and bolt. plus I was pose to include a solenoid, or the cam gears, plus instead of gsr cams u have 2000 b16 cams. so I think u really made out on the head. don't u?"

um. i did not ask for the solenoid, the cam gears, or the b16a2 cams did i? i think he threw in the extra parts thinking that when i receive the item i would not complain. well guess what? it didnt work.

he was asking 850 for the head. i paid 900 for shipping and this is what he sent me
the head was packaged fine. and no sorry i didnt go spend 50 dollars on shipping, U didnt wanna pay for shipping and i didnt wanna take more of a hit then what i was already taking. U just got a 1500 dollar head for 850.00. plus the packaging was good. Sorry that ups was careless. But if u would have paid for shipping like i asked, with the packaging looking like that we could have both made money through ups insurance.

packaging consisted of one layer of bubble wrap, just one time around, not on the sides either. and some peanuts. not enough to keep the head from flopping around in the box. sounds kind of a shitty way to package a head dont you think?

i have been in contact with mike the whole time i've had this head. and i am VERY unsatisfied with the product i recieved. i contacted portflow with pictures of the head and they said that it doesnt look like their work be cause they dont cut the valve guides to the roof on the intake side. and the valves looks like stock valves. WHAT?! stock valves? quickly got in contact with mike and he told me that the intake side was black nitrate valves and the exhaust side was type r valves. wth? you never once in you thread state that the exhaust valves were type r valves. all you said was that it had black nitrate valves. you MISLEAD the buyer by making him think ALL the valves were black nitrate valves.
this is not what i expect when i pay 900 for a "built" head. i dont care if the head cost more than what i paid. you bought the head from your friend. you didnt pay what the head cost to build anyways.

ALL i ask is to refund my money minus the $50 you supposedly spent on the shipping and i will pay for the shipping back to you. sounds dayum fair to me.
dont go blaming me saying that i am here to scam you, that i did that damage to the box and head. after i received the head all i have done was inspect, take pictures, wipe off the oil, and put it into a large garbage bag to keep all the dirt, dust and whatnot out of it.
i have given you the chance to solve the problem from what portflow said. i gave you the phone number to the rep that wanted to talk to you about it. you havent called them. you probably dont have the intentions of calling them to clear it up. are you trying to hide something?

I JUST WANT MY REFUND! I WILL TAKE THE LOSS FOR THE SHIPPING AND WILL PAY FOR THE SHIPPING BACK.

forreals. i dont have time to deal with stuff like this anymore. its frustrating

 

god damn. that damage could've been avoid by proper packaging.

Have u filed a claim with paypal? If u paid through them
That is ****ed up about the valves and cams
That right there would make me heated
Anything I ship that is over $100 gets insurance
I just take the loss on getting insurance to cover my *** if anything happens
I no longer ship with usps or ups due to them being idiots and losing/damaging packages
I really hope this gets resolved

im in the process of a claim rite now with paypal. i dont use ups nor usps either cause of the things i've received from them. when i ship an item that is over the $100 coverage that the shipment comes with i usually front the money for what the item is worth
whats even more frustrating is that mike is making up all these excuses to not refund my money. says that i've had the head over a week now and he doesnt know what i have done with it. wth? im not going to ruin my name on here over a head

this is a really shitty situation..in my opinion he is a scammer...he lied about the head and wat it came with..didnt send half the **** he said it came with...for 900 dollars i would expect it to arrive in one piece at the very least...Good Luck with this man..

i work my *** off to make the money to build my cars. i dont come in here to mislead people just to sell parts. i am a honest guy. i sell and buy parts on here i keep my customers happy and i would just like the same treatment back

 

I've met 12secdc2 in person. I picked up a door for my Integra at his house. Super cool guy, I would vouch for him. This thread is a good example of why all packages should be insured and why UPS sucks *****. They throw all their packages around and damage things on purpose. UPS has no pride in their work, and I will never use them to ship anything. The Post Office is cheaper anyway.

Yeah i quit shipping ups when it was 20 dollars cheaper and twice as fast to ship a package usps

 

that is also true im goin to have to agree because i used to work for fedex and ups and i was a truck loader and they work u like dogs for 10 bucks an hour and i didnt care either i was throwing **** around lol...i use USPS as well...still a shitty situation either way
