need to know how to reprogram ecu
I have a couple of the 96 civic si ecu's. I was just wonderin if anyone knew how i could do it myself. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
well maybe if you knew what in the hell you were talking about people might respond. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS 96 CIVIC SI's . They quit making the civic in 96 and then started up again in 99. Secondly unless you are a computer genius and know what you are doing you cannot reprogram a ECU. Tell mommy to buy you a geo metro. Only has three cylinders. Maybe that is not too complicated for you. GOD I HATE PEOPLE THAT HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT WHAT IN THE HELL THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.
I think the point he is making is, if you had any chance of actually being able to do it you would not need to ask us how.
Kinda like; if you need to ask the price, you cant afford it.

I am sorry about makin a mistake. I just need some help on how to reprogram it. Any help would be fine but don't get upset when i ask a question. Thanks

There is a guy down here Toronto will reprogram OBDII for $800 CDN and depend which ECU you have.
96 Si are Canadian Spec. (D16)

Holy **** Extreme_Hybrid_Hatch, calm down man.
Uhhh, last time I checked they were still making the civic in 96-98. Yeah I know you meant to say Civic SI but you just made the same mistake he did.
WTF, that kind of behavior is totaly uncalled for. You need some anger management or something. If you aren't going to help the guy out don't respond in his thread. It's that simple, just move on. Why can't people understand that.
swtcivic93- Re-programming an ECU entirely by yourself is probably not gonna happen. The closest thing to that you can do to my knowledge is re-chip it. There is a guy that sells chips on E-Bay but they require you to take stuff out of your ECU and solder new stuff in. You have some extra ECUs so you might as well give it a shot. Just do a seach on e-bay and you will see what I'm talking about. Good luck

yeah, like joe said....
except I wanted to add that the 96+ ecus (ie..obd-ii) have surface mounted components on the board and are much more difficult and expensive to chip.
