Default width or diameter

I'm buying some R-compound tires for autocross and I'm wondering... am I better off with say 185/55-14, or a 205/55-14. I've never hit redline in second to date so the smaller diameter of the 185/55 should be an advantage, but would obviously have a smaller contact patch than the 205's. I'm not sure, but the 185's should be lighter as well.

What is your experience and what do you think is better for autoX. This is for a 90 integra btw.

width. 205 isnt that wide, and is probably where you want to be. 185 is fairly skinny.
