Would it be out of the question to specify a non-ported PR3 casting for the head? I.e. from a B16.... Those parts a still readily available from Honda and also on the used market.

The ITAC has really been trying not to do individual variations for cars if possible. While not out of the realm of possibility's it might be an option to at least look at.
What is the main difference between the heads. We would have to look at the +/-
of both.

The raw castings are the same - both stamped PR3. The ITR gets the following changes:
1)Factory port work
2)Stiffer LMAs
3)Better flowing intake valves
4)Stiff valve springs
5)Different camshafts

I assume the rule would have to be written to require the raw B16 PR3 casting with no port work. The other ITR specific components could be added back.

Can you elaborate?? I can't see any port mods at all. Just some flash removal marks upstairs...in the cam/rocker area.

Doesn't the IT rule specifically limit removal of material in the PORT area to 1" in from the port face??

The intake bowls are ported.

{edit} Thus my reccomendation to specify the non-ported PR3 head - also known as a B16 head. [/edit]

Here is the rule from the 2005 GCR. Hope this helps.

"Manifold and cylinder head port matching is permitted. No material may be removed further than one (1)inch in from the manifold to clyinder head mounting face(s).Carburetor mounting surface(s) shall not be modified, and external dimensions of the cylinder head or intake manifold may not be reduced to faciliate internal porting. Two piece manifolds are not intended to be port matched at their intermediate point."
