my 88-91 1.5 pan had an oem sump tray. my 92-95 pan did not. they require differant length pick-ups, but if you want to put baffles in a stock pan, i'd use an ef pan.

i'm sold on the moroso pan. if i bought a mugen pan i'd still have to weld a bung in for my oil temp. im still on street tires, but if i can fuel starve at 1/2 tank, i can probably get the oil away from the pick-up. plus i 'consume' oil pritty quick

Yeah. A lot of people run 1/4 quart over, and I run 1/4-1/2 over because of a turbo, but a full quart is just asking for problems.

i have tracked my car with the D series for 3 days now. I work on a H4 D series powered car, and another race had a Dseries powered H4 car.

NONE of them need baffels. It just is not a problem on the D16z6 or d16a6 motor (for sure i know these two).

The D16a6 is a best and holds great pressure all the way threw a 30 minute session.

The d16z6 has some issues with the oil staying up in the head to long hence heating it up. so I would suggest you get an oil cooler, a large good one at that.

CRXLee sent me some picutres of a D series pan modified to allow the oil to drain quicker, you could send him a PM next month to see if he could send you pictures.

thats good info. Can anyone provide some more? I'll be rebuilding the z6 in my garage, and building it up, so i have no reservations about spending the extra $$ on a pan if its going to keep my motor in good shape. Oil cooler is a sure thing, but are you sure I don't need anything else?
I'll definetly PM CRX Lee when he gets back for that info. Thanks!

aparently he is back in town already.

Things i think might make the issue go away, drill out the oil drian holes in the head to allow the oil to get back to the pan quicker

Picked up the Moroso RR pan and that thing is awsome. For 270 shipped from King I could not be happier plus the guys are King we very helpful when I kept annoying them with questions

an oil pan should never decrease reliability. and for less headache, just buy one and be done.

.....it may already have been answered, but: are these the baffled road racing style pans?

And for what application are they?

I don't think this has been covered in the thread yet, but for those looking for D-series pans I found one!
At Sema, there was a company displaying all their steel oil pans, mostly domestic. I asked for the hell of it if they made a honda/acura pan, they said yes, only for the D series motor. I got pretty excited, since I'd like to have one myself. Is there any interest in a D series pan?

what oil pan would you use on your car if it wouldn't matter how much does it cost and if you were using it on the race track where are a lot of long left and right corners and you would use slicks...

You still think those oil pans are good enough? I have seen people spun a bearing with moroso no.20910 street/strip/road race oil pans on a racetrack with slicks on so i don't really like it.

Would you happen to have any details about this company/pan? Pics of their baffles?

As much as I continue to be FOR DIY.... career/free time takes precedence now and I would rather pay for a complete product.

I am a bit wary given people have not had much good luck with say a Canton....and would be most concerned about fitment.

Please let us know what you got!
