Seat back brace without a rollcage
I ordered my Kirkey Intermediate seat and IO side mounting brackets. My plan is to attach the seat to the side mounting brackets, then bolt the whole thing onto the the floor pan. I know I need to use a seat back brace, but I do not have a rollcage. So do I just run the seat without one?

What type of competition requires a seat back brace but no roll bar?

Re: Seat back brace without a rollcage (.RJ)
Let me be clarify this a bit more...
This is an autocross/daily driven car. For autocross, I know running without a seat back brace is ok since you're only hitting cones. BUT, I'm wondering about the dangers of not having a seat back brace for daily driving because if I get into an accident, I don't want to sustain injuries that I could have prevented if I did have a seat back brace. Or does it really not matter for daily driving?

Maybe the title to this thread is misleading and confusing everyone, but anyways...
I know what a seat back brace is. I'm wondering if its ok to drive without a seat back brace since I DO NOT have a rollcage in my car. I know I cannot install a seat back brace without a rollcage which brings up a safety issue of whether its ok to run a Kirkey seat without one.
So, the bottomline is, can you run a Kirkey seat in your car without a seat back brace? And if not so, is there a way to fabricate something similar to a seat back brace that can be used without having a rollcage in the car?

Yes. It's safe to run a Kirkey without a seat back brace. Period.
The seat back brace is a relatively new SCCA rule, and people have been running, and still using Kirkey seats w/o seatback braces for years.
The Kirkey isn't real comfy for a daily-driver - but for a cheap, lightweight seat that can be mounted low to maximize helmet room - it can't be beat!
