Re: SCCA Solo2 Las Vegas coverage (Reid)
No clue man, I haven't autocrossed since '01. I was there just trying to cover some of my friends cars from http://www.Vegasdrift.com. I ended up shooting a bunch of other cars as well, so just wanted to post them up.
I have these up also on http://www.Tunerzine.com, good coverage there of some really nice cars.

lol. You guys use the "guess your class" system? You got 240SXs in ESP and FSP...neither of which is the appropriate class (its a DSP car).
Not that those GS ones are legal either (since they're all running 17's or 18's, and the suspensions don't look so stock either ).

I see a D Stock Sentra with an Intercooler!!! I'd be pretty pissed off if I showed up with an actual stock car!

Canon 20D with a 70-200mm cheapie, $100 Tamron lens.
I'll try to get more panning shots next time.
I have plenty of other pics to check out here if you want to see them.

Re: SCCA Solo2 Las Vegas coverage (Rowdy)
... being a Vegas racer and got my go-fast crack fix from autocrossing... i have to speak up.
1st. How many have you run in a Vegas autocross? Of those who have... describe your experience.
2nd. For those who have no clue about Vegas events... we are very relaxed. We're not like those **** California clubs that disallow passengers (dumbest thing EVER... I wouldn't have autocrossed unless i got to ride along... riding shotgun during an autocross is one of the most fun things you could do!!).
3rd. hand-held cameras... eh. i think it makes for horrible videos.
4th. improperly classed vehicles. this ties in with number 2. We're not fanatical autocrosser dweebs like those in a lot of Cal clubs. we enjoy the sport of driving. I've never heard of anyone getting protested here in Vegas... why? cause we realize it's suppose to be FUN. cone-chasing can't exactly be taken TOO seriously, otherwise you're missing the point. for christ sake, I've never seen so many rice-picking hats at any other form of motorsport or non-motorsport in my life... autocross, everyone has one.
5th. They're all novices/new guys. I'd hate to run my first autocross to only be yelled at for being classed wrong. what a turn off.
6th. what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
7th. Vegas events get you anywhere from 6 runs to 14 runs a day. what other organized club does this with average participation of 65 drivers?
8th. the above post is not to directly call anyone out... except maybe those insane Cal club types who sit out in a parking lot for 8-10hrs for 3 runs.

Re: (Rowdy)
Ha, relaxed? Totally. Too hot to be bitching.
Mr Driven changes classes in his CRX and nobody bitches, because is fun!
I said something about the Mitsus because they weren't classed properly, but then again, who cares?
We use autox to relax, enjoy and have fun. You can't stress because a car is in the wrong class, unless you are going for the points and trophy, that's something else.
Damn, that Z3 looks good, too bad the driver sucks

I didn't have any problems with a turbocharged Honda autocrossing, I guess it only makes sense if the car does other things other than autocross.. (daily driving/street racing/ drag racing).
This car was used for autocrossing when it had the stock engine turbocharged and later it was motivated by a JDM H22 powerplant. https://honda-tech.com/gara...=1374
It was good for 3rd place in it's class for the whole year back in '01 with me driving, my first (and only) year autocrossing. I'll be happy to provide SCCA results if required, (a google search away).
My point is a turbo car can make a lot of sense autocrossing, (as well as being able to do a lot of other things well).
