Default Restructured racing program for 2002.....

I wrote recently about the limits I was hitting, and today I had to do something about it.

I cancelled my order for a SouthSport Track Trailer (my friends called it "your ghey little trailer"). I will live another year out of the back of the hatch. Sure everybody knows that only idiots drive to the track, but that's my only option right now - and I'm not going to NOT race till I have the minimum recommended infrastructure. When I was a really little kid, my Dad and his friends took their Alfa's, Healy's, TR3's etc. (including shop demo's) to SCCA races here in the Northwest. Their paddock spaces were grass worn to dirt, and if they were lucky their wives brought along a station wagon for support rigs. And they drank beer on their victory laps. And it all worked out and they had as much or more fun than any of us.

So I can still get up to 8 tires, gear, tools, air bottle, jack, canopy (hopefully four nested paint buckets too) in the back even with the cage (no passenger seat).

I'm going to run just ONE class - and it'll be RS. Better shot at a regional championship, almost everbody's car costs more than mine, and I enjoy running well with the ITR against Porsches.

I can still run the Rose Cup Festival Trophy race, and the CART support class, but other than that I will half my tire and brake budget, and that will allow completion of my several projects in time for deployment this year.

All this will also allow me to discharge my domestic financial responsibilites correctly.

I will have to supplement this humble schedule with vicarious racing from this and other sites. Is it just me or does it seem like it's taking forever for the ECHC to start the season. Probably just as well, since some of you are still thrashing on your cars.

Scott, who would have all the same problems at 10 times the income....."boo-hoo, I just can't run my ProDrive 550 Maranello as much as I'd like"....poor me....

You are a better man for doing that.
I send you my best of wishes.

And they drank beer on their victory laps.
Gasp... if that could only happen now...

I still say everybody should run their first season trailerless. It builds character. And it makes you think twice about low percentage passes.

Good point. I'm off to look at ITA potentials this evening.

From what I can tell, Mark Donahue did the same thing when he was first starting out in his Corvette. Worked just fine for him.

I highly suggest you reconsider this matter if you move to open-wheel cars.

That's not a funny as you think. I want an RT-4 powered by a B18C5 so bad I can hardly stand it. Watch me tow the Ralt on a trailer behind the ITR, and run three classes. Sound as nutty as flat towing a TR3 behind a Jag E-Type?

Scott, who you'd think might know better than to engage in such fantasy....I never did any of that D&D stuff....I do do H-T......

Mr. John "Ants in his pants" G

You know you have a ride with me for as long as you like. So, my advice is this take it slow and find what you WANT, not something that will work.
