Rally Co-Driver wanted for ITR rally car.
I might be jumping the gun a bit but there is a chance that my co-driver won't be able to make it to our next rally event May 14th in Park Rapids, MN. Anybody interested?
Requirements are as follows..
Helmet- Snell SA95 or newer/SFI 31.1 or 31.2
Suit- FIA or SFI 3-2A/5
Your job is to read me stage notes and to keep us on time to all checkpoints, services and events. I'm in Austin, Tx.. Anybody in my neck of the woods interested? Come hang out and if you want to do it, you ride with us to the event and go to the novice driver school the day before the event where they will brief you on all the procedures. Check out the video in my signature to see what youre in for!
you can do some of this..
....some of this..
as well as some of this...
And hopefully some of this!

I can't think of the right words to explain how cool that is. If you have any trouble finding a co-driver, then there's something seriously wrong with this world.

Don't forget to add to the requirements list:
Either a strong stomach or dramamine!
The rally I co-drove in a G2 Rabbit was lots of fun, and I never got sick, but man, one sip of beer at the after-party sent me straight to the truck to lie down!
Good luck with finding a co-driver, and anyone that thinks it sounds cool should definitely try it at least once in their life!

I think rally is cool as hell.
I've been riding right seat for HPDEs since 1993.
but...there is no way I could ride right seat in a rally! .
I would poop in my shorts.

Dang. Seriously - Zsolt would be perfect. In addition to the checks above, he's smart (he has a real job with computers or some damn thing, if I remember correctly), and he's entertaining enough to be in the car with all day.
That puking thing can keep even the best qualified candidate in the service vehicle, though so I'd suggest a day at Carowinds or someplace to test him out.
Kirk (who knows what it's like to use the inside front of his driver suit as a barf bag for last night's pizza)

Experience isn't really necessary. But you are in MN so that wouldnt work too well for preliminary preparations. Come watch though!

Sorry I'm in New Zealand and I drive not co-drive
But I have a question...... when you say stage notes do you mean each corner is noted or just intersections and cautions???

The US has gone to pre-prepared notes, a little like 'real' pace notes, having been tulips-only and "NO notes allowed" for a long time. You buy the book, one way or another, after it is done in advance by the organizers and printed.

Actually you have the option of both. All rallies offer the Route Book (intersections, cautions and critical corners) and a lot of rallies offer the stage notes (every corner) at a decently hefty fee.

Cool thats the same system we have here, although the full notes are reasonably well priced.
You should come and do a rally in New Zealand (lots of good lease cars available) and experience the best rally roads in the world
p.s Great pics and vid

I had the chance to spectate Rally NZ while we were there on our honeymoon 11 years ago. A few days later, we were driving on a really amazing gravel road and passed Rothman's tape in the bushes at an intersection: We were on one of the stages.

no, you're not jumping the gun. I won't be able to make the minnesota event (scheduling conflict + too far).
