Default Radiators?

Just wanted to know what brands of Radiators you guys are running. I need to purchase a new radiator for my IT EG and I wanted to replace it with a full length one since the stock one is pretty small. Anyway, I've been thinking of going with a Fluidyne (sp?) one or similar aluminum one but I'm not sure if they are really needed for Honda/Acura applications or if OEMs replacements are simply more than adequate.

Any experiences, thoughts

I run a DelSol VTEC radiator (Dual Core) in my EG w/b-series swap. Never have any issues with heat. Of course I am in the NW where our temps are alot lower than you see there is FL.

Nash,
Thanks for pointing that out. I'm down here in sunny Florida where running enduros can get pretty damn hot!

The Koyo racing rad is my choice. It's a monster and keep my car cool in any weather.

I just picked up a custom Howe unit from Todd Reid, and it's pretty darn fantastic. I haven't been able to really test out it's capabilities yet, but he'd be able to tell you all kinds of great things about it. Incorporates an oil cooler as well, which is doubly good

I like the idea of an incorporated oil cooler in it. Can you give more info on it. Todd Reids email/website/phone, part number, etc.

My experience has only been with Fluidyne and Koyo. The Koyo is definitely not as good as Fluidyne. I can run the fluidyne without fan after a track session and sit idle without any overheating.

The Koyo overheats under the same situation.

many other ppl have considered it too, but the lines are not big enough for proper oil cooling. take a look again at the nipples, not a good idea.

you know, i've been looking through some mustang/camaro catalogs trying to find a radiator that has the hoses in [nearly] the right places. the doh-mestic guys pay under $200 for race radiators we pay $300+ for. all i'd have to do is fab my own little mounting brackets. plus, then i could get doh-mestic lightweight/slim fans, cheaping out double time.

Heh heh heh, Todd Reid is a user here on HT, username: Todd Reid Howe is the brand you want, and they do have a website though I don't remember what it is. Try searching in the archives for posts by Todd to see pics of it, and a link to Howe's site may be in one of those as well.

You'll probably want to ask Todd about it- he had them custom made it for him. I think you'd need his point of contact etc to get one from them- it won't be listed on Howes site anywhere. It is sweet. We almost bought it...but our racecar fund was too low at the time.

btw- we too have always just used an oem integra or crx (full-front) radiator & have never had problems...we've never run an aluminum "racing" radiator before.

I use the all-metal radiator from these guys. It's a double-width core, and it doesn't break the bank. no overheating problems yet, although I haven't ran the car in summer as of yet.

They also carry all-aluminium rads, it you must have one.

I run a full width, stock replacement brass radiator in my ITC CRX that was ordered as a two core for extra cooling capacity. I would believe that most good radiator shops should be able to order a full width, two core radiator for the EG application.

Mine does have the automatic trans cooler built in but I stick to my external oil cooler for engine oil cooling.
