Default Quick question on catch can install

Just finishing up my low-budget catch can install (used radiator overflow bottle from junkyard ) and I am having trouble finding a plug large enough for the opening on the cold air intake. I asked the guy at ACE, but he had no ideas. So, then I started thinking about just running a hose between the intake inlet and the now-open port on the IM where the PCV hose used to connect since I need to plug them both. Will this create any kind of funky vaccuum situtation or anything? Perhaps bypassing the TB is a bad idea? Does anyone have any good suggestions on where to find some kind of plugs that will work on those ports?

auto zone sells vacum plugs big enough, although messing with vacum lines will innevitably cost hp. There should be 2 lines going to the catch can and 2 lines comming back

Nooo!!!!!!

You'll create a huge vacuum leak and idle at 4000 RPM. [edit, because you'll be bypassing the throttle body]

'Zone or Pepboys sells vacuum line caps, as noted above.
Use the cap on IM and air filter. Mine holds at 17 PSI of boost on the IM.

I'm sure I have a pic somewhere...

[edit: no pic.]

Thanks guys. I knew that seemed like it was probably not a good thing to do. Glad I asked. I'll check out autozone and pep boys for those caps.

I wasn't planning on running any lines back to the motor. I was planning on just dumping the oil vapor into the canister and leaving a breather hole at the top to allow the air pressure to escape. Are there any problems with this setup that I'm not aware of?

That is the way mine is run. Valve cover and PCV to vented bottles (Moroso, Dasani.) Intake Manifold capped. As long as you have proper airflow to your crankcase/valve cover, you should be fine.

Emissions is the main problem with that setup.

If you drive in a lot of "stop and go" traffic, water condensation could build up in your crankcase which the PCV vacuum and airflow helps evaporate. Likely, your oil on track is hot enough to boil any vapor in that system. The condensation is from blowby exhaust gasses.
