Default quick IT question.

I know that they Being IT is allowing the 96-00 EX's run in ITA now. my question is why is the weight a 100 pounds heavier than the older car? is there a difference in performance i dont know about?

and does anyone know if you can swap the rear out to the older rear of the 92-95 for the disc setup?

thanks!
CJ

Nope. The cars are not on the same line in the GCR, so no parts swapping.

There is no performance advantage to the newer car - why its 100lbs heavier is anybody's guess.... and why IMHO you're better off starting with a 92-95 coupe/hatch.

naa they dont look the same to me... because to me the 96-98 look completely different from the 99-00. and both of these look entirely different from the Gen before that.

just what i like. some people like rice and show ... i like fast and functional.

just taste man.

using it as a point of reference as in some people race them and they cost alot of money and BMW's usually come with the mind set of having taste.

just a reference man.

Are you sure about that? Because you are talking about building a heavier, more expensive version of a car all based on its looks.

Yep.
Buiding the heavier car because you like the way it looks is the wrong answer.

And who knows why its heavier and who cares. Just build the better car and don't worry about it.

I've said it 100 times and I'll say it again. You don't pick the car you like and then try to convince someone to make it competitive. You pick the best car and go racing.
Don't overcomplicate something thats already complicated enough without your help.

Best way to do this is to have a clean, competitive car.

People like scott really know what they're talking about. Been there, done that, seen quite a lot. Take his advice and think hard about it.

$50 says this 96-00 never makes it to a race car if you're not going to take good advice.

10-4 on asking questions and ignoring the answers if you don't like them.
You're off to a great start in your racing career.

I am still baffled though that you just told us you prefer form over function and then proceeded to state that you wanted to run the heavier car because it LOOKS better.
And 2+2=6

Good stuff.

2+2=6? and what i was talking about with form and function is not winning. but having a car that doesnt have some huge wing or ricey parts. not will it run upfront. Im talking on the lines of a clean car with cleanly installed parts and such.

That may win you customers at the friday night McDonald's parking lot bling off, but it wont win you customers (or trophies) on the race track.

"good luck with that" - Karl Shultz

You really ought to look at the official medium for rules changes within the SCCA and start there. Just talking to an official wont get you anywhere. Do you honestly think that if you show up at a race weekend, and talk to an official he will say "you know what, you're right - you can pull that 100lbs of ballast out and just toss it in the trash can" ?
