Default Push or Pull...on the wheel?

Ok lets set this up for a right hander..

Is it correct to pull down with right hand or to push up with left hand? 50/50 between both? I dont think ive never made a conscious effort on the track to do one or the other. I need to start...

alright thanks. 50/50 would have been my guess. Im doing it right them, I think common tendancy would be to use 50/50.

I actually shuffle-steer, with my knees. That way I can adjust my visor with the left hand

...or you could pull down with your left hand, then push up with your left hand while pulling the emergency brake with your right hand, for that mad skillZ drift effect.

Actually, in my 30+ years of driving, I've never noticed how I turn the wheel, other than the fact I have both hands on it. I'm going to try to forget this thread now, because if I think about it, I'll probably drive into the guardrail on the way home.

not sure how I do it, but I've read in a couple of driving books where they recommended to pull on the wheel and use the "push" hand to give it more control/stabilizing. So now on the street, I try to make an effort to pull... So I'm less smooth right now.

Pulling is less taxing physically. It uses the larger muscles of your back. Pushing up uses smaller arm and shoulder muscles, it also uses a higher number of muscles compared to pulling.

However, you should do both and shuffle the steering wheel, so that your hands are always in a position to react to "bad stuff".
