Icon2 Pick my brake pad. 1900lb 89 civic hatch. track only. wilwood dynolite caliper

Car is 89 civic hatch with 11inch brembo rotors using wilwood 4 piston dynolite caliper. Current pads are whatever came with the fastbrakes kit and pretty much suck for track use. After about 10 laps or so there is significant fade.
Rear brakes are disc off of a DA and I'm using stock honda pads
I have a 15/16 mc and preportioning valve off a rear disc car (think it's the DA one)

My old man has a BMW 2002 that weighs 1800lb and runs slicks and he has used hawk blue since I was like 10..... so that's what he says to use.

My searches on here lead me to beleive the carbotechs seem to be what people lean toward. What would you use?

The car is track only and uses DOT tires. Azenas currently. The top speed at the track I'm at is only about 110-115 so they're not seeing an excessive amount of high speed braking for whatever that's worth.

According to carbotechs website the xp8 is where I think I would start due to it's specific ability to not fade easily. I also don't think my brakes will see any higher than 1350f, but I'll buy a laser therm and check them as soon as I pull off a hotlap. What's your experience with temps?

Plus I know the rear only does roughly 15-20% of the braking, so should I be fine with the stock honda pad back there? My old man runs the same pad all the way around, but his car is better balanced so I think the rear does more braking....

Any help to this barrage of questions would be great.

A few thoughts...
40/40 valve?
Hawk Blues is what I run, no problems there. I like them.
Been tempted to try the cobalt pads though..
You dont mention your brake fluid.. what are you using?
If your running OEM you should be going up to a higher temp fluid like Ate or Motul.
With out a higher temp/synthetic fluid you will experience brake fade much sooner than with it.

are the ht-10 or dtc compounds available for this caliper? the last car i road coursed was a 5th gen corvette. after trying the blues and ht-10 the ht-10 felt like the better pad of the two.

Hawk Blues are outdated technology these days. There are a lot of better options that won't completely eat rotors or ruin wheels (Carbotech, Cobalt, newer Hawk). Any of the suggestions made would fit the bill for you.

Also, stock pad in the rear will be fine.

XR3 would be a good pad for a 1900 pound car... however if you're just doing track days you may not be putting as much heat into them as if you were racing. I run the XR2's on a 2200lb roadrace car (CRX) and I have found that I really like pads that were intended for a car 400+lbs heavier than what I have. This works well and it allows me to abuse them if needed without having to worry about fade.

The DTC-30s are a better pad than the Blues and are about $5/set cheaper. I have a '91 hatch that is 2153lbs and the same calipers, albeit with drums out back. I swapped to the DTC-30s after 4 sets of the Blues on the recommendation of Brian @ Fastbrakes, and I like them better. They are a bit higher torque so they have better bite and feel, and they are good for I think another 200 degrees in heat. I was recommended by another friend to try the DTC-60s, and I may give them a shot next event, but for your tires I suspect they might have too much bite. I'm running Hoosiers and R888s, which are stickier than the Falkens, so I can get away with a more aggressive pad.

For the most part, I had the same experience with XR3s, where I can abuse them and drive like a dick and they still hold up fine. Lately though, pushing them more I am finding just a little bit of fade. When I tried the XR2s a year ago or so I had a lot of trouble with front lockup. I might've just needed more time with them, but they really seemed difficult to modulate well with my car (2300lbs with me in it).

Remember he has street tires... So he's asking a lot less then one would be with an DOT r-compound.

Call Fastbrake and see what pad is in there, and/or take it out and see if label is still readable.
On 2200 lb crx,..My wildwood kit (from lane) came with Wildwood B Coumpond pad which I didn't notice any fade issues with.

Pad temps are getting into 1300 F range with no brake ducting.

Hi, I wanted to reply to this post about wildwood brakes because I just got a brand new set in the box of them myself at an auction. They are fastbrakes 11" wildwood 4 piston for a 1984-2000 honda civic, crx, or del sol. Can anyone tell me what they are worth? I may be interested in selling them to someone in the socal area or I suppose I could ship them.

I have an 89 civic hatch. I want to upgrade my brakes to aggressive. I can't get Wilwoods because I want to have a 14" rim. Are there any companies that make bolt on performance calipers for my car? Also, what brand rotors do you suggest? Thanks in advance.
