Kamui Kobayashi put Toyota on provisional pole for the Le Mans 24 Hours by topping Wednesday night's first qualifying session by just under half a second from the best of the SMP Racing machines.

Do you think Alonso will listen to Toyota if they tell him to hold his place? What does he care. Toyota won't help him in Indy and if he wants to get back to F1 next year they won't help him there either. Fred is gonna do what Fred wants to do. And that's always what's best for Fred.
He won Monaco twice. If he can win Le Mans again and then win twice at Indy he'll be the only double triple crown winner ever.

There have been a few NASCAR drivers in chump and lemons, and a former F1 and 5x Lemans winner Emanuele Pirro.

Ken Schrader has raced with us several times. He loves it, usually comes out in March or December since he's doing real racing otherwise. We've also had Matt Tifft, before he made it to Cup though.
Of course I never saw those guys wheel it like @Tim2179 did on three tires in the rain.

I still don't understand why KK left F1 so early.
He was good, had the backing of Toyota still?
Still young.

Re: The Official Formula 1 2019 Season Thread
Failure to finish race three at Thruxton marked the end of a trying weekend for British Touring Car Championship rookie Mark Blundell. After a tangle with Tom Chilton during qualifying - which left Chilton saying that the ex-Formula 1 driver should consider his place in the series - 27th in the opening race was as good as the rest of the meeting got.
Blundell, 53, is not the only F1 alumnus to be attracted to the BTCC. Most recently, Martin Donnelly helped Infiniti make its shortlived debut in the series in 2015. Before that, Johnny Herbert was signed by Team Dynamics to see out the 2009 season in the Honda Civic. And, most famously of all, the feature race at Donington Park in 1998, when 1992 F1 and '93 IndyCar champion Nigel Mansell rose from last to fifth, is still regarded by many as the greatest race in BTCC history.

Piquet revealed that he had never been right after his accident at Imola in 1987. The crash caused him to lose some 80% of his depth perception and saw him secretly visit a hospital in Milan every two weeks through the season fearing that if he told his team they would not let him drive. He went on to say that he should have won the championship in 1986 and Mansell should have won in 1987, and that after 1987 he drove for the money as due to his condition he was no longer able to lead races from the front (each of his six wins following his Imola accident were inherited from others dropping out late).

KUB's is great
From Brundle's podcast: I didn't know (or long forgot) that he almost had his foot amputated in Dallas '84 and he would never be able to left foot brake with it.

It's amazing how Murray so many details from the past at his age now.
Can't believe they were able to get Kimi to speak for that long. LOL at his intro.
Kimi should have dropped more F bombs in the podcast.

Congrats to Alonso, Indy500 again next year, hopefully he will qualify.
Am happy for Vandorne, up on the podium again. Wish he did better in F1.

I just watched Murder Mystery on Netflix and you guys should watch it for the F1-related stuff and Jennifer Aniston smuggling peas.

Most of the Beyond the Grid episodes have been at least solid and some are great. Kimi's was surprisingly good. My favorite so far has been Kubicas. Some really memorable things in there from his karting days with Lewis and his scheming he used to beat him.
