Lauda slams Brawn?s Mercedes contribution
I don't think Lauda can really be that dumb...
Not to mention Brawn was still running the show in 2013 when Merc finished 2nd.
Lauda slams Brawn?s Mercedes contribution
“He refused to work with Paddy Lowe,” Lauda, the F1 legend and team chairman, told Die Welt newspaper. “It’s a pity that it happened,” he added. “But judge for yourself.
“When he left, Mercedes immediately took second place in the constructors’ championship, and then won three titles in a row. I have nothing more to add,” said Lauda.

Lauda is just being petulant. He knows the score and just doesn't like being tied to the forcing out of 1 of the recent F1 geniuses. It will especially look bad if Merc struggle with the new regs in 2017.

Analysis: Ferrari tipped for new livery, new engine tech in F1 2017
Will be interesting to see if Ferrari can make progress on the engine side. As far as the livery goes I'll be curious to see what they do. I bet they go back to full Rosa Corsa.
Is Ferrari ready to ditch its white livery band, for example? It is a desire of the technical staff at Maranello, and there are suggestions the team will abandon the white stripe that returned last year.
The white had been historically associated with bad times and, after a season where the SF16-H took 11 podiums but no wins, Ferrari's management may hope that reverting to an all-red concept may at least mark the start of a new chapter.
In engine terms, the 062/2 marks a different direction for the team – with its head of ERS, Thierry Baritaud, set to be given an internal combustion engine that will make better use of the MGU-H – which should increase the efficiency of the hybrid systems and also limit the risks of turbocharger reliability.
But perhaps the most radical innovation concerns the combustion chamber, with Ferrari considering the use of a new multi-jet ignition system that will move the team to the next level in its relationship with the Mahle technology company.

Considering how many good looking design concepts we see floating around the internet, why don't teams just fire their designers and ask for submissions? I bet they could get a really good looking livery for a pair of VIP passes.
(Sorry Tim)

The problem I think with that is the teams make the liveries simple so that the sponsors pop in person and on TV. A lot of the fan stuff I see created is too busy.

Weight is def another factor. Wonder if they'll ever put colors in the weave or use a color gel coat for the carbon. That said I believe F1 teams use paint and sponsor decals because paint is lighter than wrapping. So a simple paint job will def be lighter than an extravagant one.

The F2007 was orange but they switched to a coke can red and maintained that thru 2009. I believe the 2010+ are the same orange as the early 2000 cars.

Yeah they used that more orange red from mid 90s thru 2007. I still think what they use now is not as dark as what they had back in 80s. At times that almost look blood red. Of course camera/film can make a difference with the color.

speaking of ferrari, they have written a letter to the FIA saying: hey we're going to modify our suspension to control ride height the way RB and Merc did it last year. ferrari says in the letter we think it's illegal per the rules so please clarify k thx.
if the FIA says yeah don't do that then Merc and RB have to design the same things out of their suspensions.
clever play ferrari. they waited til just the right moment to send the letter where the FIA could ban the devices and RB and Merc suffer the most with the limited time left to modify the cars.
if they waited any longer the FIA could say well yeah ok that contravenes the rules but we'll ban it next year - like they did with the double diffuser.
