Re: The Official Formula 1 2017 Season Thread
i'd love to do it but man i would be a liability out there. i dont know proper protocol/etiquette for those kinds of events and would probably **** off half the field in a couple laps. plus laguna seca is no lance stroll
the woman wants to go karting for date night so i got that going for me, which is nice.
shop gave me a mazda 6 loaner car, did my usual middle lane to off ramp dive and the rear end stepped out on me. i parked it and i could smell tires. i think it's been in an accident or something. maybe it's just **** tires, they didn't make a sound, just felt greasy when pushed. or maybe it's just the low profile sidewalls. i'm used to balloons.

from Car and Driver:
"If you think all family sedans are created equal, you’re in for a surprise with the nimble and curvaceous Mazda 6. It lives up to its racy looks, too—a precision-tuned suspension and driver-focused cabin make it the ideal choice for those who enjoy driving. A 184-hp 2.5-liter four teams with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. The seven-inch infotainment system is easy to use, and optional automated emergency braking and adaptive cruise control provide an extra level of safety."

it helps if you can turn a wrench and can drive a stick.
You pick it up quick. Might take you a stint or two to get comfortable with ppl driving up your ***. Then you get the hang of it and realize ppl can see you in their mirrors and will give you room if you go down the inside.

the door jamb says 2016 date of manufacture. it has the stupid auto e-brake thing and not-a-touchscreen-but-fingerprints-all-over-it display.
honestly the woman's mazda 3 feels way more sporty and the 6 feels more luxury with a heavier steering feel and 3500lbs of lardass. definitely has more sound-deadening in the cabin but the 2.5L 4-pot betrays this with inharmonious vibes. road noise at speed is controlled but still noticable. i like yelling at incompetent drivers and the angle of the windshield and the dash plastic means i have to hear my own yelling bounce back at my ears and it hurts. too loud.
i can't believe the rear stepping out is part of the deal. it must have had a hard knock life to end up as a loaner. i'll check the oddometer when i return it.

I like my FXT a lot better. The CX5 handles really well and feels more like a car. While that's nice, that's not why you buy an SUV. It feels dog slow compared to my FXT, and feels much more cramped than the Forester. Also I think the infotainment in the Subaru is far simpler and easier to use.

Have you had any oil burning in the FXT? I was speaking to a woman who bought a family member's car & she told me that her 2015 Forester was burning 1 qt of oil every 3k miles. Was surprised.

ECU tuning is a bit of a hush hush topic. It happens of course. I mean, it's fairly obvious when we're sitting there hooking up a laptop in the paddock or data logging during practice, but we still try go keep it a bit discreet. Mostly were trying to dial out knock.

All they will do if they think your car is cheaty is add a handful of penalty laps. If you bribe the judges (which is encouraged) you can get a pass.
In chump, a modded ECU is given a point value like any other part and you can choose to run one or not.
