Re: The Official Formula 1 2016 Season Thread
Remember when Ross Brawn had Nico stand down in Malaysia 2013? A bit overshadowed by Multi-21, but still. The right call made by the boss.
Now if both cars were marginal on brakes in Austria last weekend, they should've made the same call. And when Ham, or Brit, or the SkyF1 trolls get their knickers in a twist, Toto can say "Hey **** you I run this team and these idiots will crash themselves again. DEAL."
If I were him that's what I would do. Until then I'm glad he hasn't because that was exciting.

What is this crap?
Re: The Official Formula 1 2016 Season Thread
that's a good point. Toto doesn't get on the radio like Brawn did and tell them to simmer down. he should have.
now we get team orders and a bunch of butthurt fans at silverstone

There was mild panic in the midfield when it became clear that the Manor had been very fast in the dry; ironically the car’s lack of downforce relative to the opposition meant that it put less load through the tyre and didn’t overheat it. The Manor, in Pascal Wehrlein’s hands at least, was a real threat for points, especially when he qualified up in 12th place.
This prompted McLaren and Toro Rosso to save two sets of soft tyres per car for race day, as it looked like the only way to do the race would be two stops, with a short first stint on ultra softs followed by two stints on Soft. But the great unknown was how hot the conditions would be.
McLaren benefitted hugely on Jenson Button’s car from this decision and the cooler temperatures on Sunday also helped the car operate better. Because he’d grabbed the opportunity of mixed conditions in qualifying to line up third on the grid, Button was able to execute a strong race and score a solid 6th place.
Red Bull was one of the worst for rear tyre graining in practice and that makes Max Verstappen’s 56 lap stint on soft tyres in the race all the more remarkable. His team mate Daniel Ricciardo was not able to get the tyres to last like Verstappen did and was forced onto a two stop strategy.
He’s one of the best in the business at maintaining tyre life at a good pace, so we have to view Verstappen’s performance here and in Spain with completely fresh eyes.

Everyone's favorite curly haired racer that can't even wear a decent pair of jeans will be making his debut in a Grand Prix car at Silverstone.

F1: Ferrucci set for Silverstone Haas run
Tuesday, 05 July 2016
RACER staff
Haas F1 development driver Santino Ferrucci is will drive for the Formula 1 team at the open test July 12-13 at Silverstone following the British Grand Prix.
The 18-year-old from Woodbury, Conn. is currently competing in the GP3 Series for DAMS.

"Becoming a Formula 1 driver is my ultimate goal and I can't thank the Haas F1 team enough for this opportunity," said Ferrucci, who began his career in karting, touring the United States and Europe at age 5. "Nothing beats seat time, and the experience of driving a Formula 1 car and working with the team will be invaluable."
F1 rules state that two days of each in-season test must be allocated to young-driver training, which is classified as someone who has competed in two or fewer grands prix. Haas F1 drivers Grosjean and Esteban Gutiérrez participated in the first open test May 17-18 at Barcelona, making them ineligible for the Silverstone test.
"We brought Santino on because he's done a very good job of proving himself in each of the racing series he's competed in," said Guenther Steiner, Haas F1 team principal. "We see Santino as a young American driver with a lot of potential who has earned this opportunity."
After scoring multiple karting championships, Ferrucci graduated to open-wheel racing in 2013, competing in Formula 2000 and the Skip Barber Racing Series. He won his Skip Barber Racing Series debut at Homestead-Miami Speedway and collected five victories, two poles and three fastest-lap awards upon the conclusion of the season. In Formula 2000, Ferrucci never finished outside of the top-four in the six races he started, with each field featuring 37 or more cars.
The 2014 season saw Ferrucci in British Formula 3. He won two races, both at Brands Hatch, becoming the youngest race winner in the history of British Formula 3 at 16 years, two months and 30 days.
Ferrucci continued to climb the open-wheel ladder in 2015, competing in the Toyota Racing Series New Zealand and the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. Ferrucci finished third in the Toyota Racing Series New Zealand point standings on the strength of a win and five podiums. It was his first full season competing in an open-wheel championship, and the success led Ferrucci to the GP3 Series with DAMS.
Haas F1 Team debuted in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. It has scored 28 points so far this season, the most of any first-year team in this millennium.

From some comment on some F1 site:

Surely the most important point here is that he doesn't LOOK like a Formula One driver! His hair is too curly, his jeans are too high and too blue and his cheeks are too red

But freal doe, the more I think on this more grateful I am that Merc fukt up, because it shouldn't have got to this point. Like they're really trying to do the right thing and let them race, but it's costing them. Something like 60 points tossed between Austria and Espana booboos.
And honestly, I want to see Hami rage when told to hold station. Seriously can you imagine that sulky bitch afterwards?

Pull his *** from the car for a GP. That'll get his attention. Pretty sure the contracts are written in such a way to give the Team Principle discretion when the driver is being insubordinate (if that were to be the case).
