So the H5 was advertised as "12x" zoom. What exactly does that mean? Well, its 35mm film equivalent focal length is 36mm-432mm. 36mm is the widest the camera can zoom out. 432mm is the longest the camera can zoom in. 36x12=432.
My Sony A100 has an 18-200mm lens. You can say it's an 11.1x zoom lens. However, the A100 uses an APS-C sensor, which has a 1.5x crop factor as the sensor is not the same size as a 35mm film or full frame digital camera. So though my lens is an 18-200mm lens, with the A100 it's basically a 27-300mm 35mm full frame equivalent.

Lewis Hamilton says he can learn "the same amount" about Formula 1 circuits playing computer games as he can by driving in the Mercedes simulator.
Simulators have become an almost ubiquitous tool in F1 in recent times, as the rules have increasingly limited on-track testing.
Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg recently described parts of Mercedes' simulation of the new Baku street circuit as "weird", and Hamilton said he drove just eight laps in the sim ahead of this weekend's European Grand Prix because of the tool's limitations.
"I don't drive the simulator a lot because it's not at it's best at the moment - we're working on trying to make it better," Hamilton said.
"I don't do a lot of time in simulators. When I was at McLaren we did way too much.
"I could spend £100 on a PlayStation and learn the same amount."

I can believe Ham at this point. With a proper gaming rig I bet it is close enough to at least learn the track and tweak your line.
Gran Turismo 4 taught me the Ring. Before GT4 I knew of it and the track layout but now I feel like I could go over the Germany and not be a nuisance while driving on it. I wouldn't push the car but I would at least know where to be for the proper line and how to get out of the way of everyone else.

So in FP1 RIC in the wall at turn 15 and not Versenna
Bottas hitting 351 kph in FP1. With a tow might someone break the all time top speed record?
