Red Bull engine could be called Tag-Heuer > F1 News > Grandprix.com
"The teams that have been there, they know the road how to get there," added Hakkinen.
But the Finn thinks McLaren will have to take more short-term pain in order to achieve long-term gain.
And that pain looks destined to keep hurting team supremo Ron Dennis both on track and off, who after refusing to alter McLaren's sponsorship "rate card" has had to farewell several backers.
One of them is Tag-Heuer, and the latest rumour is that the long-time McLaren backer will now take over the naming rights to Red Bull's 2016 engine.
"I don't think Ron Dennis will be very happy", Christian Horner said in Abu Dhabi.
The tension between Dennis and Horner was reportedly also evident at the recent F1 Commission meeting, when the former told the Red Bull chief to "suck it up".

Force India close to finalising deal for Aston Martin's F1 return - F1 news - AUTOSPORT.com
Force India is close to finalising a deal with Aston Martin that will see the British sportscar manufacturer return to Formula 1 after a 55-year absence.
Autosport revealed at the end of October that the Aston Martin name was likely to return to F1, after a two-year run in 1959-60.
Talks have continued in recent weeks about the details, which will likely see the team renamed to Aston Martin Racing, and run with a blue and gold livery as part of a link with sponsor Johnnie Walker.
"We're close," Force India's chief operating officer Otmar Szafnauer told Autosport during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend.

Their early 2014 livery was ****** sick doe
But yes...a British team with the name "Force India" has been stupid and has made them hard to root for...esp with half of their ownership in jail.

so... what's to stop a team like Williams, Red Bull, etc to sub contract a motor and call it their own (besides $$$)?
I mean really, Red Bull only needs an ICE. They can (and have) developed the hybrid components successfully before. If Renault builds them an engine to the Ilmor spec (another sub), then who's to say it's not a Renault? Seems legit to me, if a bit expensive.

I always thought there has to be a loophole in the current engine regulations in this area.

If the engine is built to a different spec, how does that impact tokens and homologation? Is everything that comes out of Renault's factory a "Renault" engine or can they produce different variants?

See that's what I'm curious about too. I mean if Renault sells Red Bull their spec, that's pretty clear. But if Red Bull contracts Renault to build them a SUPER RED TAG BULL engine, then where does it start the homogation process? How similar/dissimilar do the blocks/heads have to be to be considered another manufacturer? Can a current manufacturer be a subcontractor to another "builder" like Red Bull?
I don't think the same PU can undergo to different paths of development with the way the regs are currently written. That could be changed which might be something planned for the off season, not sure.

McHonda to sweep 2016 WDC and WCC
Proof!
Vandoorne ends Abu Dhabi tyre test on top
Oh wait that was with all 2015 stuff.
I'm guessing McHonda got the specification of the Ultra Soft that is 3 seconds quicker than the others and lasts for 1 lap lol.

"We had one shot when it came to testing tyres for next season, and we can be satisfied by what we’ve achieved in this test, even if we have to fully analyse the data," said Pirelli's Paul Hembery.
"The ultrasoft’s target for 2016 is to introduce a compound softer than the supersoft and mainly designed as an aggressive choice for street circuits, in order to allow teams to take a more aggressive approach to race strategy.
"Whether this will produce more pit stops, or any difference in strategies, it’s too early to say for now," added Hembery, "but it seems we are heading in the right direction. The ultrasoft is expected to offer more possibilities for certain races."

I couldn't adjust my driver line up for 2 months so I kinda mailed it in the last few races. I think at best I would have ended up 6th or so if I had actually been able to do the damn thing. Congrats to those that made the podium!
