Default NW PIR track day fun, captured on film

I'll have a few more video clips uploaded soon (thanks Demian), but here's a fun little compilation music video I hacked together for the fun of it. The in-car stuff is from my car and from Nash's car.

The red blurr blowing past me on the back straight is John Miller pushing 16 psi. Kyle passes me first, in front of John.
Video (7 megs)

Ok Greg and Scott, feel free to critique this full lap. Nothing spectacular and the video quality isn't the best, but at least it was clean. Besides braking early for 1 & 10, late apexing 12, and being slow through 6, what do you think? lol

Dude.....you need.....better video. Your basic line looked ok, except for T12 when you should have freed it up and used all the track out.

The other thing that really stands out is how long it takes your car to make it down the straights

Scott, who actually liked you first video the best, especially the parts where you wasn't pointing the right way....

The footage on my computer is a lot better. The conversion to make it a reasonable file size hurt the resolution.

Your video has upset me.

I find that I am overwhelmed by euphoric feelings as I begin the viewing, but that these feelings subside and are replaced by feelings of hopelessness as I see only months of unfullfilling non-driving type activities before me thru the winter months.

I must control my feelings. You probably thought that it would be "fun" to share your video. Yes, I can understand this. Ok, we're fine, everythings fine.

Scott, who thinks maybe it will help me to listen to Korn while I work on my shop tonite.....

That looks like fun. What event was that? Is that the last track day for a year? I really need to take my car out again.

Any more videos soon to come?

John: MTV called - Carson Daley wants to do a show on your MaD SkIlZ in-car music video...

Good stuff. It's hard to tell visually, but it sounds like your getting on the juice earlier I agree with Scott that there's more room for speed on the T12 exit, but your braking/downshift and turn in was right on.

You can squeeze the line off of T7 a bit more and get your tires right up agaist the FIA curb, but it looks good. You need to make a VHS copy and send it down. I'll get my *** in gear and get my race video to you soon.

Greg ~ who was watching his mirror as Scott closed in and missed the apex on T12

It was a Alfa Romeo open track day, and I think the season is pretty much over. I used a different editing program last night and the resolution is way better. I'll see about getting that one uploaded.

Default did you have to get involved with the alfa romeo club?

i've heard these are the cheapest events held at PIR. If I want to go out and trackday, I don't have to be part of the alfa club do I? Could I just show up and get teched and hit the track in whatever group I'm placed in?

TIA,

Francisco

Nope. But you get additional discounts if you're a member of an ICSCC club...

Get through tech and go!

In no particular order...

1. Thanks for the memories! In my case that red blur was Dane Pitaressi and I was about 15mph slower on the straight than you seem to be. And the straight didn't have that CART interest generator at the time. Snore.

2. What's with the cone on the curb at the old turn 7 (now 10?). Unless they have made the curbs a ton bigger in the last 10 years (possible), that cone would mark the location of my RIGHT tires and wouldn't be long for this world

3. Those of us with cable access could tolerate (and enjoy) a version with a more favorable frame rate.

Thanks again - lots of fun!

Kirk

Many of us were thinking the same thing while running! Needless to say on my second session of the day, on the second lap... the cone was no longer sitting where it shows in the video. It was somewhere in the grass and there was a new mark on my bumper.

John! Thank you for immortalizing my spin!

Nash - Great loop! Did you let your right foot get a little light just after the car started going around? Next time try a 540 out into the grass... that's my specialty!

The cone is to mark the apex for the noobs as well as disencouraging getting the inside tires on the paint. Like Kirk said, the cone wasn't long for this world.
