Default Need help w/ sysp. setup

ok, just put on my coil overs on my civic coupe and I put the 550's in front and the 450's in rear. Now, I get on here and read that everything's set up w/ the lesser spring rate in the front. Am I missing something. I thought the stiffer spring rate in the front was to compensate for the motor. Is there two different setup's where one is stiffer in the front and the other is stiffer in the rear or am I just an idiot? I could have sworn the one set said 550F and the others were 450R. Need help w/ a stupid question. I feel like such a noob!!!!

the 450's are more then a few times stiffer then the stock springs.... most people stiffent he rear because thats how to create a car that will oversteer a bit

question is did I put them on wrong or is it just a preferrance issue (Oversteer v. Understeer)?

Yes, and be very careful about using a rear stiff setup on the street - with this litigious society we live in. Same goes for an overall stiff setup. The response is so much faster than stock that you'll have to have slow hands in a panic situation otherwise, you might very easily lose control of your car.

Looks like the large majority of coilover manufacturers will put the stiffer springs up front and softer out back, so more likely than not you installed them correctly.

So much depends on the rest of the suspension. Some people base more theory on Spring rates and some base more on Swaybar...But you are using a similar setup to mine and I love it. If you haven't already, get a large rear swaybar and that will cause lots of rotation. Also, depending on if you have adjustable dampeners or not, run the rear at lease 3 times stiffer then the front. This will also help your rotate with the springs you've chosen. If you were to switch the springs around your car would have so much oversteer you'd probably lose it in a corner the first couple times around.

My setup includes a rear 23mm swaybar to augment the 22 front. With 10k front and 8k rear the car rotates like a dream in all situations.

Thank you very much. That's exactly what I wanted to know. I figure since the 450's are soooo much stiffer in the rear that I can't even stand on the trunk to squat the *** end down anymore that they'll be stiff enough. That's for the info.

Used to be a little rice (gt wing; wanted to do more racing than I'm able b/c work). Now it's de-riced and going mainly street (jdm) w/ a little SCCA.

Oh yeah, the 17's that are on it could be a little rice but I can't find anybody to buy them. Hell, not even the accord people want 17's anymore. I used to be running some 14' HX's powder coated black.
