My crappy suspension just came in
My Truechoice coilovers just arrived. They're revalved Konis, and I'm running 400lb/in Eibach springs up front and 600 lb/in Hypercoil springs in back. 600# springs in that length are on galactic backorder from Eibach. So I told them to get me some from Hyperco. No biggie, I like Hypercoil more anyways (that's what I run on my S4). I have the shock dyno results too, if anyone cares to see them.
Of course, now that I've learned that sleeved coilovers are junk, I don't know if I should install them

I'm gonna be a zombie in the morning CM Just got done watching the late showing of the Speedvision WC races.
Here's the dyno sheets. One of the rears can be adjusted stiffer than the other. I wonder if one of them just wasn't cranked up all the way. I'll have to give Greg@TC a call on Monday.
Here are the fronts:
Here are the rears:
edit: God I love this camera. Good old Coolpix 950.

How does the sleeve stay on the shock. It's not welded?? is there a c-clip or something? Does the sleeve fit the koni's perfect or do they need o-rings?
Also could someone tell me if GC sleeves fit perfectly on koni's or do they need o-rings?

Ah, the pleasure of installing custom made parts. They left out 2 minor things. See in the picture how the red springed shocks have a sleeve at the top of the spring hat? They didn't include those or 2 big washers for the rears (blue springs). Well, they're required! Plus, it's a good thing I bought the master Energy Suspensions bushings kit, because the rod they use won't fit through the stock ones. I should have it together by wednesday night.

For the ITR, the Koni slot is in the wrong place. They start with CRX shocks, cut in another slot for the rings, and revalve to your spring rates.

Which is one of the reasons that I didn't go with the truechoice setup. They have good results, but it costs a lot of money to get what you want since everything has to be custom done.
For instance, if you have aspirations of just Koni double adjustables revalved to your stock ITR springs, you're looking at $1800.
Truechoice is only about 30 miles away from me and they do great work though.

Re: My crappy suspension just came in (Warren)
I am so sorry about Saturday. I didn't get your e-mail until Saturday afternoon Twin infants don't always let e stay up and chec my mail and browse the board as late as I used to. I don't understand the "slot" problem, please explain.

Re: My crappy suspension just came in (98type-r)
I just looked at them again. I think the first guy (not the shock guy) explained it wrong, I think the shock guy was right (obviously, since it fits). They modified where the spring hat sits. Apparently the stock CRX location doesn't work right on the ITR. Anyhow, that's the closest off the shelf Koni, and then they massage it some to get it to fit on an ITR. I'm guessing it's a modification to the rod, since I see some custom welding there.
I may be wrong. I'll ask Greg when I talk to him on Monday, re: sleeves and angled washers.

Re: My crappy suspension just came in (MaddMatt)
Warren,
I had my friend print off force / displacement curves for my Bilsteins. After spending enough time staring at your curves, my F/D curves, and force / velocity curves on both my Bilsteins and another set of Koni's, I can only say that I wish they had given you F/V curves. Without even any values the curves you have are essentially missing their decoder ring, making it pretty much impossible to draw any interesting conclusions. Even with values on the graduations on your curves tedious graphical mathematics would be required to estimate force / velocity data. I must still be sane because I'm not interested in going thru that excercise.
This is a real problem in trying to gather data on dampers. I think I'm not out of line in suggesting that F/D curves are not the most generally useful - they are for people who live in that world using that visual vocabulary. Most contemporary students of damping live in an F/V world. It's not that one is wrong or bad and the other right or good. They are just different ways of looking at the same data - competence can be demonstrated with either. But in the modern DAQ age there is no question that F/V is the clear choice of format.
Over the course of the summer I will be dynoing more dampers and will be doing modest testing. I will share my observations as that progresses.
Sorry I can't provide anything useful or interesting at this point.
As I understand the Koni shop world you can't simply call your vendor and ask them to print off your F/V curves because your shocks weren't run on a PC based system. You might call and ask though just in case - if you can get the F/V curves please post them.
Scott, who gets frustrated looking at curves sometimes...makes me feel dyslexic...

Re: My crappy suspension just came in (Warren)
Best looking junk I've ever seen! BTW, since they SUCK... when you throw them in the trash, please let me know where you keep your trashcan. I'll be over shortly thereafter. Don't worry, the black Integra parked out front of your place temporarily is... the new trashman's ride
Seriously, they look awesome! Can't wait to hear how well they work oh I mean how quickly you'll be getting rid of them!

I'm not sure why they don't external bumpstops. None of the TC kits that I've seen have them. I believe they run internal bumpstops. I'm out of town right now. I'll check with them when I'm back in town.
Re: springrates. I've been told 600F/800R would be fine on these shocks, but I shouldn't really go above that, because the 27mm pistons won't be able to move enough fluid.
