Default MSD 6AL vs. SCI

I am somewhat old school and have always run MSD 6AL ignition systems on my cars (including my 2 Gen. 1 CRXs). Is there any real advantage to spending the $$$s on an SCI when I already have the 6AL ready to go?

No, save your dollars, same thing in a silver box. If your refering to the SCI with rev limiter.

Cool - thanks guys. That is what I figured . . .

I seem to remember a few years ago in GRM, they did a review of a similar piece. Might have been a Jacobs. Anyway, they installed one on a CRX Si, and one on a Triumph Spitfire. The Honda, IIRC, actually lost power. The Triumph gained a bit, I assume because it shed its old school points/vacuum advance in the process.

That being said...trust me, the ignition systems on Hondas isn't very good. My coil and ignitor both went out this year - so it might be worthwhile to get that stuff out of the distributor and into something proven.

Power wise, they are very good, but it is the weak point in reliabilty of honda's.. I have had 2 HONDA ignitors go out, and that sucks, easy fix but still sucks.. Lucky me to have another coil =~)

I should have been more specific...power wise the OEM ignition system is hard to beat, short of some kind of high dollar Electromotive thing. But ignitors are expensive.
