Default Maxxis RC1 tire. Anyone running them?

Looking for any advice from people running the Maxxis RC1 tire.
Car is a 1995 DelSol, 2440LBS race weight. 15X8 TRmotorsports wheels.
We normally run Nitto NT-01 tires. 225/45/15. Always had great luck with them But we needed 1 more set for this year and could not find 4 that wouldn't end up costing heavily. Normally we can get 4 NT-01s for $850, I was at $800 for 3. So buddy of mine said Maxxis Canada had 4 RC1 instock for $800 even. So we ordered a set up. 3 days later they were at the shop. Heat Cycled them late sat and ran them late sunday for a 1 hour race. When i heat cycled them i started at 26 Front 27 rear. (same as Nittos) good grip for 3 laps then fell off for the last 2. Pulled in and hot i had 34PSI all-round. Talked to a fella running a K-Miata with us and he said he started at 22PSI and went for high 20s hot with the Maxxis. But he also runs a 9inch rim. So when we started the 1 hour i started at 22 front, 23 rear. went for 30 mins. Came in and found 33LF and the rest where all 29-30PSI. They felt good and had some decent speed. But it seemed to push a bit in right turns. So i am guessing they really do not like being above 30PSI. dropped the LF down, and a buddy of mine jumped in. Unfortunately another car did a few laps dumping oil on the track so he only did about 5 laps. mostly just learning how the car handled as its is 10 inchs shorter in wheel base then his and 1 he ended up spinning in the oil slick. lol. They ended the race due to the size of the cleanup needed.

So from what i found 28-29PSI hot is where there happy. Anybody else try them and find the same? or am i way off lol.

There's some reviews over on the ChampCar forums where Maxxis is a sponsor, you may want to check there.

I've been running them for a while and have never tried them that low, most I have talked to around here like to run them around 35-37 hot. I usually target about 37 myself. I can do 25 minute sessions in 90 degree heat with minimal fall off.

Running them in the upper 20s - low 30s may actually be creating more heat due to some additional tire squirm.

I am also running a 225/45 on a 15x8. I usually start at like 29 first thing of the day and take the first few laps easy, and ease more and more each lap to warm them up. Usually they get anywhere between 35-37 after initial warm up. Then I lower down to 32, but each session I go out they are always around 34/35 when I come back in and I lower to 32.

Where I live though can jump from 80 degrees at 10am, up to 95-100 by 2pm. People at the track, along with myself, assume that we keep having to let air out through the day due to the asphalt temps increasing.

Well figured id add my last raceday in here.
We finished the year with a 3 hour race. Didnt get much practice due to being a organizer, but had enough time to go out with higher presures. Went out with 29 front, 30 rear. Beading in pads as well front/rear. Felt okay for a few laps then became pretty lose. So after cleaning up a BMWs power steering fluid. I Went back out at 25 front 26 rear. Went hammer down for a few laps and it felt great. Came in and they were all 29 hot.
Come the start of the race air temp was 15C. Track temp the same. Started super low 22 front 23 rear. Went flat out for about 8 laps then black flaged due to no brake lights. Came in 5th. Went back out 30 laps down. Decided to go for broke and see how good these tire are. After 2 hours of pretty consistent laps i landed 10th, just 29 laps down haha. Sucked as the fast V8 guys and BMW all broke, leaving me and a KMiata the fastest cars on track. Kmiata took the overall win.

lap times were equal to nitto NT01 tire. Fastest times i actually did not on a hoosier. Consistancy was good. I am no pro driver but outside of traffic i was running about .5 a sec lap to lap. End of the race it looks like i could do another 3 hours on the tires without rotating. They seem to have very thick rubber. Contact patch and sidewall. For the cost and wear, ill defintly make the switch. Our track is old and rough. So it tends to eat tires. Ill try and get some video posted as well.
