The lifetime warranty is true.
I don't know about the free rebuilds though.

I would think a rebuild would be the solution to a warranty claim, wouldn't it? I'd like to add that I have no Koni experience, but I'd like to know as I'll probably buy some for my next set.

As far as i know, you need the original reciept that has to be in your name, and they have to be sent back to koni from the shop where they were purchased. You will have to find something to use in the meanwhile, as there is no swap out warranty. You shouldnt have a problem as long as you have the reciept, and the shop is still in business

I'm pretty sure if you read the warranty it will tell you that it is voided if you use lowering springs.
If you use stock springs, then you're covered.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

The warranty is also "use-based". That is, if they get the blown/faulty ones back and somehow determine that the wear was due to "mis-use" via lowering springs or jumping traintracks or whatever, they will not honor the warranty.
Someone qualified to comment on this is Joe Henderson from Rosen Autosport. He had a set of Koni yellows on his 93 SE-R (stock springs, street car / daily driver, autocrossed occasionally), and blew at least two of them within a year. They refused to honor his warranty due to "mis-use". I have it on good authority from a Koni rep "off the record" that the Koni for the classic SE-R simply sucks due to improper piston shaft size and etc, but... that didn't mean much when warranty time rolled around.
Sad but true, so take your chances...
