Koni install??
sup peeps....just got my koni yellow coilovers and was lookin through the directions and all it shows are pics of the install......one particular part i'm asking about is that before you install them it shows you have to take the shock, compress it, turn it either 180 degrees or 360 degrees, then decompress it.....can someone enlighten me on this.....and whats the difference from rotating it 180 or 360 degrees........??
and how does the adjustment go for koni's.....? i notice there isn't any #'s, just an arrow showing which way to make it firm. is there levels of adjustment, or just full soft and full firm??

Sounds like what they're talking about is what side of the LCA the nut (should be welded to the shock) and bolt go on. Some aftermarket swaybars require you to have the nut end facing the rear of the car.

If memory serves, you're not supposed to run Konis at full stiff... I think it'll blow the shock. Something to that effect. Hopefully someone more in the know than I in regards to Konis will either confirm or refute this.

I remember reading that it was recommended by Koni not to run the full stiff, turn them all the way to stiff then back off a bit.
Not sure how much truth there to it, but better safe than sorry.
The rear ones, well at least for ITR and CRX are not adjustable when they are in, they have to be done before you install them. I put the bottom of the shock against my chest and pushed the rod in against the ground, once you begin to turn the rod you will feel it sink in, that is when the adjustment is being made.
Not sure if this is what you wanted but there you go anyways

Yes....thank you!.....so you're saying I won't be able to adjust the dampening if that isn't done?!

correct, it is more like that is the only way to adjust the dampening, if you think you need to tighten them or soften them you will need to take them off the car and adust them. Or you could pay an extra $125 per shock to have them revalved so they are externally adjustable.
Not sure if this has been covered here, did not feel like readign through all the posts.
For the rear you will have to adjust them before you install them. Of course this depends on the car you have and the koni part that goes with your car.
What car do you have?

ok..i'm getting confused now...since they are the koni yellows shouldn't they be able to be adjusted externally with the ****???
oh and i have a 95 civic hatch....

Not all Koni Yellows are externally adjustable it depens on the application if they will be, like I mentioned the Konis for a ITR and CRX are the same part number for the rear so I know they are not externally adjustable, but the front ones are. I have never asked why, but maybe I should. It depends on your application, I am not sure about your civic, I would call Koni and ask, I've called them before and I was on hold for no more than a few minutes, they are very helpful.
It doesnt make any sense why the rear Koni Yellows arent adjustable in ITRs. On my GSR my rear Konis are adjustable. And I know Ill get flamed for saying this but aside from minor specification differences, its pretty much the same suspension on the same chasis.
That sucks, at least mine are easily adjustable.
