Kill Switch
I did a search and I have looked through the archived content, but I am still a little lost because there are a few different ways to wire a kill switch. So, to cut through the confusion...
If you have a 1994-2001 Integra (assuming the wiring is the same for the whole generation & across models) or specifically a 2000 Type R, how did you wire a kill switch?
If other honda's/acura's are the same, then please post your directions also.

That's the switch I have, but I didn't install it. Tried to take pictures of the way the thing is wired but I can't get a camera down there.
Some pictures are here but I don't think they'll be much help...

I have never used the all metal switches but the plastic ones with the red removable key. I have to wire mine soon and had lost the instructions so the dealer just faxed the sketch to me. Contact your dealer and see if they have a sketch available. Remember that if you run an alternator, you must set it such that the switch willl shut the car off when running.
Wiring is my single worst mechanical ability bug-a-boo (that is all that's left on my racecar) and if I can wire a switch, anybody can.

I don't own a Honda, but I have that exact switch.
Main Post A - Wire the POS battery cable to this switch. Nothing else on this post
Main Post B - Wire the Starter to this post, along with the Alternator Wire, and the main vehicle power wire.
(But Paul, the alternator will still run the power on the car if you turn the switch)
Small Post A/B - From your ignition, there should be a Wire that runs 12V when the switch is turned on, and turns on a solenoid for main ignition power. Splice the two small posts into this wire.
So turning the switch isolates the battery, and shuts down the main power to the ignition, so the engine will stop (no power to the coil(s)).
That's how my Mazda is done, hopefully that's clear enough that you can start digging through the wiring diagram to find the appropriate wires.

PaulC

To make some very long story shorter
-you have the correct switch.
How to wire it is very simple. Start with the location you want-mine is on a plate under on the firewall with a pull cable using the K&E article.
Now that you have it placed you will bring a battery cable to it and attach that to one of the large terminals. The other large terminal will feed the Starter motor and the INPUT to the MAIN fuse box under the hood.
How to insure the car shuts off is the job of the 2 small terminals. On a CRX and other models there is a large White wire coming out of the MAIN fuse box from the 60 AMP fuse. Open this connection and run a wire from the screw on the fuse box to one of small terminals. Connect the wire you removed-which goes to the Ignition switch-to the other small terminal. By doing this you will break ALL power to ALL of the electrics including the Field of the Alternator. I have yet to suffer any negative consequences doing this.
I have spoken with several manufacturers and other racers. They all recommend that you carry a spare of this switch. Remember that it is to be used only for emergency shutdown. It is permissible to use it with the IGN switch off as we do for transport of the car or while in the garage/pits.
You have q's or a need for pictures drop me an e-mail and I'll try to help.

I have the same switch that davidnyc posted a pic of and am in the middle of an install.....
what is the "K&E article"?
I don't want to cut a hole in my hatch, and I don't want to have the switch on the exterior of the car when I street drive it.....
Pics work for me much better.
Anyone got a step by step "how to?"
