After 5 years of good servcice my vice broke! I has tightened a miata spindle into iit and was using the impact wrench to try take the axle out.. Well It kept slipping so i would crank it down harder and harder.. Well it no longer held..

What i saw shocked me!

I guess its time to break out the welder and probably make this a secondary vice.. RIP good tool..

I guess even tools made in america break..

we broke a vise very similar to that last year when assembling my H1 racecar; it cracked the casting and fell apart just like that.

i think there might have been a void in the casting; tried welding it but was very difficult to weld the cast material and make it strong again...

Isn't Ohio Forge one of the American-sounding brand names Harbor Freight uses? If so, I'm not surprised. I got a big C-clamp set from them a few years back and have broken every single one of them. I don't have much faith in anything made from cast iron that comes from Harbor Freight...

I think the bogus US sounding names HF use all have "Chicago" in them.

FWIW I broke a vice once too, trying to press a U-joint out of a F-100 driveshaft. Yes, F-100, not F-150. It was a long time ago.

Naa its made in the USA.. I bought it @ home depot... Ive had it since before i discovered the harbor freight
