How does the ProSolo work?
This weekend I'll be attending my first ProSolo and I just realized that I don't know how it runs. If someone could simply outline what happens on Saturday and Sunday that would be a big help.
I've never attended one myself, but from what I've heard this is what happens.
Two cars line up at the same time, running mirror-image courses. They start by using a drag-type start, using a christmas tree system. After each car runs one side, they immediately switch sides, and run again. As far as eliminations go, that's where I'm a bit hazy...

I know how the actual driving part works, it's the schedule for the weekend that I don't understand and how Satuday effects Sunday and so on.
Sometime near the end of the Sunday morning runs there will be an announcement about putting your name in the hat for a chance at the Bonus Challenge. The hat is usually in impound. Make sure you do this and make sure you are there when they draw out the names. 8 names are drawn for the Bonus Challenge. The winner gets a free ProSolo entry.
Also attend the beginner briefing Saturday morning when Howard goes over how things work.

The best advice I can give is be early early early to pre-grid and then grid. DSP will be buried in the groups, so pay attention to how and when things line up prior to you running. It should be announced over the PA, but you're really on your own to be there when it's time.
Grid spots are numbered, and there will be sheets posted with where you should be. Sat am it be be set-up by number order in class, Pm and Sun am will by place order within class; if two driver car, faster driver runs first with the class group.
Another quirk that is easy to screw up is that you do your 4 runs in 2 pairs, and for the 2nd pair, you run the courses in opposite order. Example, if you go left-right for the first pair, then after that when you go back to grid you line up in the other lane than you were, so that you do the 2nd pair right-left. Of course, these orders would be reversed if you started on the right.

Very true. Reaction time counts as part of your final time.

Reaction time only counts as part of your time in the bonus rounds. In the regular rounds, it only matters if you redlight <.500 or take too long > 1.00

It is when you are in the challenge rounds but not in the timed runs for class placement; clock starts when you trip the 2nd beam. As far as I know its been that way the last 2 years.

Yes, reaction time now counts during all the rounds. I was told it didn't count in the past due to a hardware or software limitation that has now been remedied. Although I really wish they would post the reaction times as well as the run-times. They weren't always announced.

They announce your reaction times, and so if you're cutting 0.7 lights, that means your actual time on course is X.XX-0.2. A red-light means that the time you "run" is "too fast" by however much you redlit by.

1) show up on Friday early - they usually have practice starts on Fridays and they end around 3 or 4 (I think) Practice starts cost $10 for 6 and you get to actually use the lights and learn your 60 foot times. This will really help with your confidence on Sat. morning.
2) Howard Duncan usually holds a novice procedural class (I think on Saturday morning) This is invaluable in answering all your procedural questions. Go to this!!!
3) Relax and don't be intimidated - Remember that you will get 6 runs on each side over the course over the weekend and only your best run on each side counts.
4) Even if you get eliminated before the challenge rounds stick around - there are bonus challenges that are drawn from all the people who are not in other challenges. If you are not around they pick another person.
5) Don't forget to go to impound!!!

The Pro Finale wasn't in my plans for this year. I'm just trying out the pro because it's so close and Ben Martinez is co-driving and providing the Hoosiers.

With some of the contingencies that can be won, you could come out still ahead on that deal...assuming you can win.
