Default Harness Question

Does anyone know anything about this:

I have a friend with TeamTech belts in his Z06 autocross car and they look to be decent but he isn't running the above system with the sternum padding/support. Any thoughts?

Looks like it would cause less brusing in a frontal crash, and might be more comfortable to wear. Might be kind of hot in mid-summer. Can you get it in Cam-lock, or is the latch OK with you?

I'm not sure how quick you could get it off if you had to exit a burning car. Do you have to pull the harness up over your helmet, or does the sternum strap have a quick-release of some sort? Velcro maybe? In either case, just something else you have to remember to do.

The sternum pads have a velcro strap and the website says that it can be undone in about a second. They do make them in camlock but I will be getting a Hutchen's Device sometime this year so I will need the latch style since as far as I can tell, the cam style Hutchens would buckle in where your sub *should* be.

Looking at the instructions http://www.hutchensdevice.com/ It appears that the seat belt anchor would actually replace the sub belt. If it's tight, it should do the same thing as a sub belt, by holding the lap belt down low on your hips against the pull of the shoulder harness. From what I've read, that is what keeps you from going under the lap belt, not the sub catching you in the jewels.

No you still use the sub belt. I talked to someone at Hutchen's and they explained how the camlock variants work.

The harness connection really has nothing to do with keeping the lapbelt down and I doubt the device is strong enough to do so. The harness connection is designed to pull down on the back of the device in a collision which tightens up the connections to the helmet.

So where does the "Seat Belt Anchor" actually attach to?

It comes between your legs and would attach to a latch0link harness the same way as the sub does. On certain camlocks it will buckle in where the sub does and on the non-compliant camlocks the guy told me that you pass the left side lapbelt buckle through one of the latch-link style connectors and then plug it into the camlock.

Ahh... I was wondering how that would work... cool.
