You should start by going back and reading the FAQ.
I too got started many many moons ago in Karts.
But since you want to get started go read the faq first and then come back and ask the almighty question of how to get started.

I think your better off looking into a few things.
What do you want to do?
RR
Auto X
TA

What rulebook did you look at?
Depending on the Sanctioning body you will have different rules for each one.
Decide what you want to do.
The read their rule books.

1. Make sure your car is in good working condition.
2. Acquire a helmet that meets specifications of the event you are going to.
3. Sign up for an HPDE

Thats how it works, its really that simple.

Why are you looking at the rule book for a competition series, when you've never driven in a non-competition event?

That's a good summary. That's all you need to do to get started. No rulebooks, no sanctions, no "tuning". Find an HPDE (high performance driver education) event, such as those put on by NASA, BMW CCA, and other groups all over the country.

You need to re-read the previous post, or else you need to take a reading comprehension course.

You have been given good advice. Now you're just wasting our time. That's enough.
