getting a harness ..pull up or pull down straps????
I'm gonna order a harness. What is easier to use pull up or pull down straps??
I'm thinking pull up...where will the leftover strap lay....pointing back of the car? pointing up and then droop down? or just point down?

I always use pull-down... this works good for the shoulders... but the lap belt is a little troublesome to pull towards the floor.
A pull up belt system is preferable. I have the pull-up Sabelt they used to sell at Racer Wholesale. They would theoretically droop down, but once you've pulled up, you're through the hole in the side of the seat , so the excess belt usually just rests on you lap pointed towards the locking mechanism. In other words, it's not long enough and flexible enough to droop back through the hole in the side of your race seat.
Pull up lap belts are preferable. Pull down lap belts are hard to cinch down really tight sometimes.

I too learned the hard way. Pull up are best.
Remember.. if you get pull up.. that only refers to the LAP belts. AFAIK the shoulder belts are ALWAYS pull down.

I have pull-downs too, and I too wish they were pull-ups. The pull-downs were great in OEM seats, but with a race seat the pull-up would be much easier. Someday I'll swap it out.
It depends on your seat model, the seat/anchor point positions & the brand belts you use. I tried pull-up laps but they didn't work well for me. There was a problem with buckel to seat interference. I went back to pull-downs.

Plan on getting the G Force Harness
I wanted to get the 5 point H-style with pull up belt, it has a sabelt camlock
Using these on stock seats for now, plan to get a reclining sport seat next year??
the problem with the pull up style is caused by the mounting points. depending on mounting point, and each individual car, seat, and driver, pull up or pull down may be better. in my case, i had to get pull down, because if i got pull up, i'd have to somehow reach behind my seat to strap me in.........not exactly easy. so consider all the factors before ordering. pull up may be generally easier, but might not work in all situations, a pull down may be a bit of a bitch, but will always work.
or i may just be talking out of my ***.

I tried pull-ups and had to return them for pull-downs. Here's why:
Since I have my lap belts bolted to the seat (stupid, will change when I get a seat), the straps were "too short" because there is effectively an extra piece in the pull-up belt. The labels were under the cinching mechanism. Sorry if that isn't clear
Basically, I couldn't get them tight because there wasn't enough distance from the buckle -> anchor bolt. Pull down requires less distance.
If your belts are bolted to the seat, pull-up may not work for you. If they're bolted to the floor or the body, you may be OK.

I don't get that ....if i'm mounting the the stock seat belt anchor bolt...wouldn't the distance be shorter than if i bolted it to the floor?
wut car and seats did u use??
This will be going in a 96 Integra with stock seats

are you saying the lap belt itself was long...too long that it wouldn't fit in the short distance from the anchor point to the buckle?
i have a 98 240sx w/Sparco belts. i think that when you get pull-ups (not the training pants
) that you have to pull up back by the clip......and since my lap belts are mounted using a clip and eye-bolt setup, i couldn't use the stock belt bolts as mounting points. i chose this because i can take my harnesses in or out in under a minute, plus i retain my stock belt for daily driving. the place i ended up drilling through was the vertical part of the floor pan back by the rear seats, which is real hard to access while in the seat, semi strapped in. if your setup will be completely different to mine..........disregard what i said..........just tryin to help out.
