Evolution Performance driving school
I just wanted to know what people thaught of the program and if it was worth the money? I also wanted to know how the program helped them on the track?
When your done with this course do you get a license or certificate? Do you need a special lecense for autox? and if so how do you go about getting one?
Worth every single penney. Won't make a national champ out of you, at least right away, but you'll suck soooooo much less than before.

You dont get licenses or certificates. Just show up and say "I'm a n00b i need help" and they'll help you get started.

All these answers being the reason I am attending on the 20th. 3 second place finishes by less than half a second combined. I figure i should be able to find 2 or 3 seconds with an instructor, maybe more. Even Massive Raw Talent needs a little help sometimes.
I would suggest running at least a year's worth of autocrosses, perhaps with some local instruction, before attending an Evolution school. Lots of people can teach you the basics. If you know the language and the fundamentals of performance driving, the Evolution instructors can give you the edge to becoming a very competitive driver.
That is unless they come to the area often, and you have the money to do it more than once.
I would also suggest doing a search on "evolution" or "mckamey" on this board, there are tons of threads.

Thread resurrection.
What's a reasonable price for such a school? I'm considering hitting the one @ Waterfest (VW/Audi show @ Englishtown) for $75. Seems a bit steep compared to the $15 I paid for the novice school, or the $15-25 I pay for events. Its either that, or an HPDE @ Pocono South w/ NASA-NE for $130 the day before.

that school for $75 is only for half a day. they are running a morning and afternoon session. one session = $75.
normally a full day evo school is ~ $200

OK, let's recap -
1) Evo school is excellent
2) You should probably be an experienced autoxer before attending ( have 4 or more autoxs under your belt) so you understand what they are teaching you. You need to have the basics down - course walking, how to work the course etc.
3) Evo prices vary slightly but between 200 and 250 is typical
4) Local regions hold schools that are often more for novices. Their pricing is usually considerably less (something like $50-$100) but the instructors are not often as high a caliber driver as the Evo instructors (who are usually former National Champions or about to become one)

Great school. Great way to drop your times, and learn from the best of the best.
SOMETIMES they'll even drop hints about car setup.

PS SlapSmak, great quote "Negative... I am a meat popsicle" (T5E)

Please please please, if you've never autocrossed before don't even try to attend an Evo School. Usually, the event steward will try to screen applicants to prevent this from happening. I've seen complete newbies at this school, and they do show remarked improvement over the course of a day, but it'll help you tremendously to have a basic clue before the day begins.
KC--are you an instructor at the 7/24 Devens EVO school??? I think I'm in it--I haven't heard confirmation from Steve Hazard yet. I was supposed to be in the 4/6 one that got iced out and I rescheduled.

Site costs and class size will also effect the final price paid.

I'm going to do my best to get into phase 1 this year. Maybe I'll also get Jean as my instructor too.

Well then if no one will invite you to a party, host a party yourself.
