thats awesome.......... I do not think I even thought about what I was going to do twice, I took a line and said if he is gonna hit me, he is gonna hit me, I was nto going to give up any ground to Jerry, he was already hounding me bad enough

analyzing it afterwards I realized how much that 2 or 3 seconds really taught me as a driver

I learned A TON this weekend, and know there is some more still out there

Morgan - who, after being called a ***** for not taking 3 and 10 faster by Corey, picked up 2 seconds from practice to qualifying Saturday

yea, i thought that red flag might be pandimonium, i was waving my hand as hard as I could to signal to slow up ;-)..but thankfully everyone saw it and got stopped ok.....

ps. nice racing w/ the hondas this weekend :-) ( especially Kofod (sp?) and the matching integra, they ran very similar lap times to us SERs (and the H3 prelude), and a big thumbs up to the H5 guys I did catch in the races, very aware of their mirrors (unlike a few of those miatas), looking forward to racing everyone at VIR north in a couple of weeks

That was H4 madness for sure. Close racing the whole event. Cant wait for VIR. </TD></TR></TABLE>

you should have seen what happened on the red flag drill in one of the HPDE groups... there were no less than 12 cars stopped just around the bend in turn 10, essentially blocking the entire track. I was watching from the tower, and it was one of the scariest things I've ever seen.

I had a great time this weekend racing with my fellow H4 and H3 racers. I think the SE-R's are a good fit for HC. Man those Nissan's have some speed down the straights. I wish I could have gotten through the turn 5 mayhem on Saturday to race with you but at that point you had a good bit of distance between us and I didn't want to risk a win.

Sunday I had a good 4 or 5 lap battle with Adam in his H3 Prelude until he overcooked turn 5.

More than anything I had fun just hanging out with everyone.

I am also very relieved that our teamate Leo is ok after a bad shunt in turn 10.

Looking forward to VIR and hoping Leo and Ian can race with us

Regards,

Jon

Too bad about Leo's car, glad he is ok, just hope this doesn't shake his confidence too much. Many people have been bitten by T10!

Red flags have to be just about the scariest thing ever in any on-track-session. Most groups don't do red flag drills in HPDE because of the increased chance of causing an incident.

I watched a video a friend of mine took of the HC race on Sunday and saw what happened when they threw the red during lap 1. HC guys I saw all did a great job One of the spec miatas, a red one, just about clobbered 3-4 cars before coming to a stop. The Miata guys stopped on track, on both sides between 8-9 and basically blocked the track. HC guys all were on the far right, or slightly off the track on the left to leave lots of space to allow EV thru.

I talked with Chris after the race. It is next to impossible to see the red flag at start finish when you are coming out of T10 with cars in front of you. I was drafting Jerry Birchmore and was lucky to see brake lights on the other cars in front through Jerry's windshield and barely missed creaming Harrison who had already pulled over. There were cars behind us that couldn't see anything and had to go between all of us.

I don't know what the solution is but clearly people aren't seeing the red flag at start finish...witness the cobra last year that was utterly destroyed when it was knocked into the trees.

I think its time that EVERY racer attend a racecar drivers classroom meeting again.. Make it manditory. Just a refresher course on red flag situations, track conduct, Start formations and such.. Drivers need to slow down slower during a red flag and only to ONE (right side) side of the track!!!! I know Jerry was right behind someone on the front straight and didn't have room to the left OR right of him because there were cars stopped on both sides. There really needs to be a consistant answer to this ongoing issue of "which side to stop on".

Great idea on the classroom meeting, Corey. I agree.

Remember though, that the CCR does not dictate which side of the track the driver is required to stop on.

It doesn't? Well, it should, IMO.
