Difference K OEM & Quaife ATB
Does anyone have facts or personal experience from road racing what the difference is between the OEM K20A and the Quaife ATB?
I have a dedicated trackday K20EG (featured on Hybrid racings homepage) that I currently run a EDM K20A2 transmission with a Quaife ATB, but I may be in the process of making a switch with a guy to get a JDM K20A transmission with a CR-V FD on it.
Pros and cons would be greatly appreciated since I donīt have any experience of them both. My only interest is how they compare on a track, I donīt care about daily driving input.

I don't know about the Quaife diff, but what are the gear ratios like for the EDM trans you have? If that's like the US K20A2 trans (I don't remember the K-series tranny designations), just going to the better gearing of the K20A may be worth it. Having driven both of those transmissions, the R-box is significantly different and better.

Iīm also quite convinced that the JDM/CR-V combo is way, way better than the EDM/EDM combo in terms of gear ratios for road racing. Thereīs no question aboput it. The question is if the JDM ATB is ok for my needs, so I donīt end up having to invest in a Quaife ATB again, cause that would make this a very costly deal for me.

We have been running the 5.062 final drive in our K-20 Powered DC2 Integra since 2004.
The acceleration advantage over the 4.764 is quite noticible.
You might want to consider the Newly released K-Series GEAR-X Close Ratio Gear kit which coupled with the 5.062 Final Drive gave us quite a difference in lap times, going from consistant 2.0 min laps down to 1min 56.5 sec. Three and a half seconds I thought was pretty incredible! We will probably go faster with more seat time.

If you are serious about Racing go for a good Kaaz or Cusco or Quaife Clutch type LSD. Stay away from Gear type or the el cheapo Chineese/Taiwaneese copies. You get what you pay for.

For a mix of street/track use, would you still recommend a plate type lsd? Which gear type to stay away from? I know the Quaife is rated highly?

To answer your original question, there is a night and day difference between the quaife and the stock units imo. Right out of the box had at least a 2 sec. lap time difference from the old transmission I had which the only difference was the quaife. That was first time out in the car after not driving for about a year.
I'd say that if you aren't going to go to a clutch type and keep up on your maintenance of it then the quaife is the way to go. You will be dissapointed going back to a stock unit after running your quaife.
